  8. Rest in Peace, may your family also get through in this time of healing.
  9. Because it is not covered under any fire district or municipal government. Several other structures are up on the mountain that are not covered a few houses and a few communications buildings. their is also no coverage for mountain rescues except for Beacon Vol. Amb. Those areas are in DEC governed areas and they do not provide fire protection to structures just the trees.
  10. Excuses, Excuses...Had I gone to work yesterday, I would have been a 1st due photographer with a 4 min ETA. But I had chose to take the day off yesterday and missed this fire. It sounded very intense, lots of work going on. Good job guys
  11. I have seen a structure fire where the actual building was exactly 20' away from the fire district of another department. The FD needed a tanker to the scene (the neighboring dept. also had a tanker) but the chief called a tanker from another dept. just because he doesn't like the neighboring dept. Access to the fire required going through the neighbors dept. district. The thing is that the neighbors dept. coverage are is not that big so response time would be closer. BUT THAT'S POLITICS FOR YA!
  12. Over the last couple of weeks several people have been talked into not jumping. 1 apparently did as indicated by the story. I guess the Newburgh Beacon bridge is the favorite suicide place right now. Sad, really sad.
  13. Congrats to all that made a difference!
  14. Dutchess County 911 PD Channel is back to using 155.415. The channel is simulcasted thought the county. This is the main 911 channel. I believe this will continue to use 151.205 will be a back up channel or for special use.
  15. What would happen if someone got into an accident with a fire or ems veh. that displayed blue lights and while they are sueing decide to add on the fact that the fd was operating in violation to the NYS V & T law?
  16. Nice job on the extrication & the photo's
  17. I really wish I could express my feelings right now but I want to stay a member of this site. All I can say is I voted Republican
  18. I-84 e/b @ the East Fiskill district line 06:05 Sunday Nov. 2, 2008 Got to love plastic gas tanks & fire. Playing at the scene Rombout, East Fishkill, Hughsonville & NYSP Thruway. Village of Fishkill stand by I/Q
  19. As an avid scanner listener I have heard several calls for a medevac to go on stand by just because of the type of call. I also have heard several calls that by the discription of the accident should have had a medevac. I can't remeber any victim that I was taking care requested a bird for that didn't end up in Westchester. I loved an incident today in Orange County where 911 went back and forth between between "put the medevac on stand-by" then "Launch it" L/Z gets set up "EMS said no medevac was needed" the fire chief says xyz EMS tech says yes to one person but another EMS tech said no. The victim was transported by ground. Was the medevac really needed? or is it really incompitance?
  20. I believe it's gonna be the same guy who did Millbrooks seminar, if it is he is a fire chief from NJ (sorry can't find his name). This is an excellent seminar I recomend it for all FF's. you will see what we are walking into with most structural fires and just how unsafe a building is.
  21. I can't explain the SCBA issue, but yes their were a lot of aerosol cans in the back on fire and going up in the air. All FF in the "blast zone" wore proper PPE including helmets. So if one did land on them the gear would of protected them. The issue of add'l equipment was for water. It was just one of those stubborn vehicle fires that happens once in a while. They did protect the exposure, the trailer. So besides blistering paint it was OK
  22. That has been a recent topic on here. But I agree with you as it is common sense.
