Friday night after the Renegades ball game at Dutchess Stadium (They won) there was a scheduled fireworks show after the game. All was going well when suddenly a shell exploded in the racks. This caused a chain of events most people only hear about and seeing it for my self gave me a O-SHOOT feeling. The shot consisted of 5 shells tied together shot electronically so there was no way to stop the other shells once the signal is sent. The 1st one went up normally, the 2nd exploded in the rack. The last 3 other shells exploded as one shot through the outfield fence and exploded near third base a second blew a smaller hole in the fence but did not go past the fence. The last one went right into the stands between home plate & 3rd, This struck the roof of the sky boxes and showered sparks over the hundreds of spectators. Fortunately there were only a couple of minor injuries reported. Had the shell dropped a couple of feet lower there could have been some serious burns and / or the shell could have entered a sky box and started a fire. My department has a apparatus at the stadium during all shows and we had a ambulance crew stop by to watch the fireworks which is not normal (Renegades pay private EMT's during games)But it worked out to have a couple extra EMT's there. As far as the fire departments response to the incident everything went well. The stadium helped maintain some kind of order to evacuate the stands. But this could have been a real disaster! Has anyone had a similar experience? Incident Alert: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=37697

Same incident I saw SP fly over my house earlier during that

I agree with most of your points however I don't see any problem with putting a department on stand by especially if it's volunteer.

I've been in the fire service & losap program for 24 years. Sure it's nice to have money right away but I would rather have it when I turn 60 @ $30 a month for every month I served. Thats a lot more than $5 per call.

With the childish behavior, is anyone in that dept. over 21?

I had gotten the information regarding "dual stage" airbags from a seminar I was at. It was said since some crashes involve hitting more than one obstacle a 2nd discharge in the airbag would occur to protect the occupant in the 2nd hit. It was later discussed that it was possible to go off a 2nd time during extrication. This was a couple years ago so we have 2 separate opinions on the topic the bottom lines is to be aware anything can happen
-
Lets not forget dual stage airbags in the front. The second charge may not go off in the collision but may deploy in the rescue.

A few examples of stopping CPR Dispatched to a unconscious person with emd cpr in progress. EMT gets on the scene and see obvious signs of rigor mortise. EMT stops cpr based on his training Dispatched to a unconscious person in the middle of the woods with an hour extrication time or you are 2 hours away from the nearest hospital is 2 hours away and closest medic is an hour. You respond to a accident a first responder starts cpr, you arrive and find obvious open head injury Many possibilities that can / have happened. It comes down to knowing the risk / benefit and your training. Contact medical control also, but maintain life support procedures until they give you the ok And if a medic is on the scene let the medic make the call! Just remember document, document, document!

spin_the_wheel I didn't see that, looks pretty neat. Seth, Very large selection of strange colored ambulances as TCA-ALS25 said. a few neat things as always including the light I videoed and put a link in a separate thread. But I did like this monster Rosenbaur tanker built on a International Lonestar series chassis

~New Federal Multi-Colored LED V- shaped light bar~ Light can change colors and patterns with the press of a button Extremely bright and Extremely AWESOME! I saw this at the 2010 Harrisburg PA fire show 5-22-10 The guy who had it said it is not availible yet, I expect it to be very expensive but I like it!
