Fox will probably show re-runs of AMW and have people looking for perps already caught.

Another factor these days is the general public just doesn't care about the fire Dept's like they use too. Now if you close the road for 5 minutes at a car wreck they start cursing at you. Now shut several roads down for a parade and imagine the cursive thoughts. Granted there are a few places that still support the fire Dept's & parades but it's not like it used to be.

You may feel like it's a "money making scam" but when you have to work along the road especially highways you realize how dangerous it really is. Slowing down and moving over that takes up maybe 5 SECONDS of your life but it can help make sure that the emergency worker your passing can go home to his/her family at the end of the day. People think that safety is a joke until their life is affected due to the lack of it!

Maybe the departments truck committee should learn how to use the tape measure also, that's why the have trips to the factory to review your apparatus before it's completed. They are as much to blame because they are suppose to know the ins & outs of their station the new truck would go into.

It's very hard to say, unless you are there and actually see the conditions saving anything besides your backside may be the only thing you can do. Sad situation I'm glad no one was hurt. So on another note I guess they will be getting a new engine soon.

It is suggested in Dutchess to call out by using your department name and unit identifier i.e Chelsea 35-11 This is so if people key up and start talking their identification is not all cut off because the repeater system has not open up yet. So if the dispatcher doesn't hear your department name they will at least get your numeric ID, otherwise they may only hear "11" responding. OK who's "11" is responding? A personal pet peeve of mine is when people key up and say (as an example) Chelsea 35-11 to 911 911 is on Chelsea 35-11 responding Put your message in one statement! If the dispatcher didn't hear you they will ask who's calling or replay the audio. If the dispatchers are busy, don't expect them to answer you back in .0001 seconds, give them a moment alot goes on in the dispatch center to make sure everything is covered. Remember KISS - Keep It Simple Stupid

Coming up later this month (March 19 to be exact) the moon will make its closest approach to Earth (called lunar perigee) in 18 years. A new or full moon at 90% or greater of its closest perigee to Earth has been named a “SuperMoon” by astrologer Richard Nolle. Can this Super Moon contribute to extreme weather?
