I don't understand why some FD's don't have EMS responding on initial call for a structure fire. Do they think they have that many extra EMS trained firefighters as well as a large enough crew for fire operations that they can afford to wait for an ambulance to arrive for the victim that got out of the house before they arrived? What if the ambulance that covers your area takes time to get out or your contract ambulance is on other calls so it takes longer for a back up unit to arrive.

Not everyone carries extra money on them, some only carry enough to cover lunch. Some of these tolls, depending where you are are very high and if you have to bring a tanker or a ladder to the scene your talking $8 and up (depending where you are). The point is the state should not have passed this frivolous law. We all know how fast the state pays back money, sometimes you wait over a month or two or three. As I previously stated, everyone needs to write letters to protest this ridiculousness. Contact all local and state officials. They must make money off the interest from our money!

It's not to different then the story NBC did last night about people who don't carry renters insurance. Some felt that nothing would happen others didn't know about it.

Somebody's job justification is all it is "look at how much paperwork this person does, we can't let this person go" Maybe some lame brain thinks it will stop terrorist from blowing thru the tolls. Over the last 10 - 15 years Dutchess had a huge influx of city people as well as people from Long Island and lower Westchester. Many of these people don't know that departments are volunteer or what that even means. They just want help to respond when they dial 911.If it was put out to the public during a regular election most would not know the difference.

Dutchess County just dispatched the county fire police team to assist
