Lots of information missing here. I would hope that the EMS crew did what they were supposed too. Speculation - I bet the "rib pain" & "get some sleep before your flight" was what the guy told his son so he would not worry. The guy probably didn't want to stay in NY another night and figured he would go home & see his own doctor.

I this area (anywhere within a 50 mile radius of NY City) every department should plan on at least 100 victims for MCI planning mostly because tour buses and trains. Even if your department doesn't have a major road or train tracks you need to know how to handle it because you most likely will be called to assist.

I believe NYS buidling code already requries alll new commercial property to post markings on new construction

Sad part Nate & Dan is that they had a truck long before most. Your argument is the same reason why my chiefs turned down a ladder from a developer that wanted to build 3 - 4 story apartment buildings. We are surrounded by them, Beacon, Rombout, Fishkill, Hughsonville, Wappinger's, New Hamburg and across the river there are a few within 10 minutes of us.

He better get the death penalty for this, I certanly hope they DO NOT find this guy insane

I doubt the flags were freshly installed by crews, how about just getting the proper flags and mounts, put them on and not create an environment of potential hostility and also getting bad press.

I believe good sam laws are different in every state. Which is more liable, Holding someone's neck completely still or not doing anything and letting a person suffer and possibly causing further injury to themselves? In today's world you can be sued for ANYTHING. As long as you do not do something you are not trained for you should be ok.

For all those Android folks who feel left out, Use "Scanner Radio" by Gorden Edwards. It is free and also has a paid version, but free works good enough. I have never had a problem with it. This App also pulls the audio from Radio Reference. This also has a chat feature available and you can set channels up so if they hit X amount of users it alerts you.
