Why the change and does it carry extrication tools?
-
Oh ok, I see. I mis-read the article. As it was explained to me by Lts and POs from multiple jurisdictions, certain law enforcement agencies have ministers from specific denominations "on-call" for their officers and thus are given special privileges like a red warning light or a badge more as a courtesy than anything else. I know several departments do this, for example NYPD and DFPD. The instance in which I was pulled over by a minister impersonating a police officer I was flashed a badge and flagged down by a black SUV with a red rotating light. I noted the very conspicuous license plate, called it into the local PD, came into give a deposition and thats it. As far as I know, the minister in my case was disciplined "internally" and no charges were filed to my great dismay.

Its possible that this minister has privillages with local police department that allow him to use the lights in specific circumstances. I do take issue with one thing particular thing stated in the article. The article said that he had pulled people over twice and that no charges were filed. Are you kidding me......this minister impersonates a police officer by displaying red lights, pulls people over and is not charged with anything. That is a little insane. Now I have been pulled over by a minister impersonating a police officer with a badge and a light and nothing happened to that guy either. Is there a pattern I see?

I do not think that there will be a rise in boating accidents because of the high price of gas for boats. There was a story on WCBS 880 about how the high price of gas for boats was preventing boaters for going out on their boats. I was in Norwalk today and I did not see very many boats out on the sound.

It just seems like a waste of resources to outfit so many members cars with one of these devices.

Is there some where were you can see all of the NYPDs ESU trucks including some of their very rarely seen trucks like the one above?
-
How long and high is the rig? I like the scotch-tape chevrons on the back.
-
Is the cost of this program (somewhere in the range of $225,000 according to the article) worth the investment of the fire department? especially with the AEDs not have being used since they were purchased and the one or two lives that they might save a year?

Is the NYPD command post here: http://bp3.blogger.com/_C88W7jvqpWM/SDeVtw...-h/nypd1739.jpg The same NYPD Rescue featured on Ferrara's website and brought up on this board previously: http://www.ferrarafire.com/apparatus/new_d...ries/index.html

Looks like there is a lot of space to store a lot of tools. Very well planned out and progressive with the chevrons and the way that the tools are laid out.

Nice shots Graham. As usual, a very nice spread and array of shots.

Found on the Gowans-Knight website under work in progress. Anyone have anymore information about it? What kind of chassis will the body shown be mounted on? http://www.gowansknight.com/Pound%20Ridge%20Pumper.htm

This is the kind of press that is good for the fire service and emergency services in general. It makes me proud to be a New Yorker when I hear stories of the FDNY and the NYPD doing such good deeds. I have relatives that live in the area, are friends of this family and were at the party. They said it was the most heart-felt experience they had seen in a long time. It brought tears to the eyes of all of those in attendence and apparently including several members of the FDNY and NYPD.

Here is a link to the draft version of the NIOSH LODD report regarding the Super Store Fire in Charleston, South Carolina that killed 9 city firefighters after fire conditions deteriated rapidly, trapping the firefighters. This is a very hard report to read based on the emtions conencted with it and the technical nature of some of the report. It sheads alot of light upon the incident. So how do I get them on my phone?

It was a good movie but no were near as good as the first. This one was too predictable. The lights on the federal vehicle bothered me alot, but whatever. I saw it at 4:50PM the first day it came out.

If you read the Unoffical Charleston Fire Department website, it only lists one engine built in 2007 by Pierce, and there are several images of the niehboring mutual aid departments researching LDH with the city fire department. Also, it shows all city firefighters training on 20 year old donated LDH. All of the engines in the city fire department have pre-connected booster lines on them. Found on the Firefighter Close Calls website, very funny but a reality. LINK: http://www.firefighterclosecalls.com/fullstory.php?65180

The man wearing the red helmet is most likely a Lieutenant.
-
It could be just another incentive for that person to go on as many calls as possible given the fact that they are so close to the station.

Im more intrested in the rational of GBFD designed it like this. What equipment is on the rig that would require a single door on each side like this. I guess a picture with the tools mounted in the compartment would also explain this but apparently this would happen until ???

Why can I not put this on 9/11. In the 6+ years since 9/11, emergency services have recieved billions of dollars for incidents much like this one. If a plane crashes anywhere, the increase in funding has allowed for departments to purchase apparatus and equipment. Look at New Jersey, the Urban Area Security rigs PAID for with Department of Homeland money allows for this kind of increased responce. While these rigs are not for crash rescue, the principles are the same. 9/11 has increased our awareness and responce to any threat that comes from a plane. And for good reason, a plane of that size can destribute and carry chemical, biological, nuclear or explosive devises. DHS pays for us to be prepared for an incident like this. The reason DHS was created in response to 9/11.

Why the one very long roll up compartment on both sides?

I have a question about Millwood apparatus response. Why would Millwood send a rescue/engine on an extrication call when Millwood has a heavy rescue? Wouldnt a call like a heavy extrication require the more equipment on the heavy rescue as opposed to the rescue engine that according to the Millwood Fire Department website that only has a LUCUS combination tool while the heavy rescue has a full set of LUCUS extrication tools.
-
Its actually 5 engines, 1 ladder, 1 tanker and 1 rescue. And no, you would not recieve that many apparatus for a roll over on I-684, frankly because as im sure you are well aware, there are many more hazards with a plane crash regardless of the size than an SUV on its roof, especially in the post 9/11 world.
