  1. Charleston 9....Gone But NEVER Forgotten I remember exactly where I was when I heard about the tragedy. I was spending a few nights visiting Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. One of the city fire houses was a few doors down, so I headed to that fire house and watched the news and prayed with the guys on duty that day.
  2. I guess that he really didn't kill the immigrant, his lawyer was just really really good, or the prosecutor did not do his job right. I guess its telling that most of the charges were dropped before it went to the jury. However, the second charge added recently does throw a wrench in it. Im curious to hear other law enforcement officers opinions about the trial and the verdict.
  3. What are they replacing and who did the bid go to?
  4. Maybe we get that response because a bear, especially one that is prowling like that can pose a serious threat to human life and property if it is aggrevated. The common black bear about as fast as some horses for a short period of time and has over 2,000 PSI of jaw crushing power. The eastern American Black bear like the ones found around this area can also pose more of a threat to public safety due to the fact that they will and can do anywhere they want and its makes alot to stop a bear. As im sure that buckwrapper can attest to the fact that you can not kill a bear with a service pistol.
  5. According to some of the articles about the incident on firefighterclosecalls.com the marijuana cultivation had nothing to do with the fire that killed those two firefighters.
  6. Seriously, is this for really or no???? I do not think so but thats a cool truck. I think it is a spy shot that comes from a FD in Maine. Scroll down and you find a picture of this rig. Link: http://www.firedeptmtvernon.org
  7. This happened to my grandmother a few days ago.....if it is the same story she is not 88 but 78 and was on 61st and Madison. she fainted in the street and it took the bus 45 minutes once they were called to get there. My father works in White Plains and got to the hospital closest to her a good 15 minutes before the ambulance got to the hospital.
  8. With how hard parts of dutchess were getting hit, especially in that area, it is not a surprise that they called in MA from a less busy, albeit farther way part of the county. Dutchess had a Tornado Warning in effect, with the kind of damage that was entolled and the amount of runs that Dutchess faced during this storm it is commendable on all fronts the interoperability and the cooperation that was shown last night
  9. The IA states that Stat-Flight will be landing South Bound.
  10. I do not believe that this is a breach of FOIL. According the first article on lohud.com, it was stated that it was a breach of FOIL. In the current article, however, the assertion that it was a breach of FOIL is made apparent in the following: "Robert Freeman, head of the state's Committee on Open Government, has spoke to this issue in the past and has said police don't have the authority to withhold that information. "It's not their call. It's the judge's call," Freeman has said in prior interviews with The Journal News. "If a teenager is arrested, it seems to me that police have nothing to say about what's public and what's not, unless a judge grants youthful-offender status." Link to Article:http://www.lohud.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080606/NEWS02/806060427 It was not made clear that this was going to be given youthful offender status, therefore it was considered to be a breach of Freedom of Information.
  11. I saw a Guardian Angel walking down North Water Street in South Norwalk today, the red beret and all. It was around 2:45 PM.
  12. When was this? I am just curious being that it is a relatively new rig.
  13. What about this: Reposted from IA "1 firemen to hospital by ems its my son got to go" Link: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopi...mp;#entry138253 Any news or updates?
  14. Thats a great find, the last time anyone posted a picture of these rigs was a few years ago. There is another rig like this around somewhere. I believe that this is a 05-06 Pierce Lance Walk-Thru I am just curious about where it is stationed, when and how it is manned and what is stored on this rig? Also, what does CBRNE mean?
  15. Apparently, the decision not to release the name by Larchmont PD is a breach of the Freedom of Information Act. Its also possible that he was not intoxicated but still was able to blow double digits on the BAC
  16. I am surprised that no one posted this yet. I found this while on ESPN.com. It is a moving piece about how the high school basketball team that one of the Charleston 9 coached won their state title. It is extremely moving. Part I: Part II:
  17. If not a GPS then something to find it quicker in the event like this that it was lost. Maybe a radio collar or something. How about something like this. I found it in 5 seconds after I typed in "GPS locator dogs" Link: http://www.amazon.com/Global-Pet-Finder-GP...r/dp/B000CEN0YC
  18. No GPS chip implanted in such an expensive and valuable dog?
  19. I saw those photos as well. I figured that they were kind of like an ESU. For an ESU, does it have assult rifles and all of the happening of ESU from Yonkers or NYC or does it have more of suits, brooms, barriers and speedy-dry?
  20. Can anyone tell me more about the DEP Police REPS? I am curious to know about the staffing and equipment carried on board as well where they are stationed. I saw one around Bedford a few weekends ago but these pictures really sparked my curiosity.
  21. I thought that the Coordinator had the power and authority to get you whatever you wanted when you wanted? But what about when they are not needed like a simple car or chimney fire...I have seen BC's respond to minor incidents like these, while they have not assumed a command or BC role they still roll to the call. Is this normal/useful?
  22. I was in the country side of England a few years ago when we say a triple rainbow......it was absolutely amazing.
  23. The fire was literally across the street from my friends house, you can see him in the brown shirt on lohud. Does anyone have the final apparatus run down?
  24. Since I have to work on Friday, I maybe the only person who wants it to rain on Friday because I work across the street from the Westchester County Center.
