  1. The article also said that the area was clear around 2:10 PM which is almost an hour and a half before the start of this topic.
  2. I root for two teams, the Mets and who ever the Yankees hate the most, and for my entire life that team has been the Red Sox, therefore I have to consider myself a Red Sox fan. What this guy did was dumb, plain and simple. He must have been absolutely hammered to do something like this because no man in their right mind your beat the crap out of someone because of a baseball rivalry.
  3. Did he only backburn what was on his land or did he just do a burn on the land near his property? If he burned other people land thats an issue but if it was only on his land then what prevents him from doing so and why would he get arrested for doing so?
  4. I know exactly what you are talking about. I saw the same exact thing happen last year.
  5. Its a sick car. I saw it all the time behind the Hook/Rescue Companies house before you guys did all of the installs. It was also the only Mt. Kisco car at the Fire in Bedford about a week and a half ago. I am curious why some people install the arrowstick on the inside as opposed to the outside.
  6. Not only is it Hurricane Bertha but it is also a category 3 storm.
  7. I hope that they do not have these vendors at Mount Kisco's parade on Friday, however, if it is like past years then they will be there. I have gotten some coll toys from these vendors many years ago but now I can not stand them. And I can not tell you the amount of times I have seen silly string on a rig during a parade, it defeats the purpose of the parade if someone is going to dirty up the rig.
  8. Thats hysterical, I do not know what to say.
  9. What is the exempt fireman's club and how do you lose track of something like that?
  10. What is this rig. It looks like a 1963 American LaFrance but I could be very off from that estimate.
  11. Ive seen that bug from Ithaca. Its awesome because i saw a HUGE cop get out of this tiny car.
  12. The Surge Drills that I saw in the Bronx last summer had the officers with L&S blowing red lights but not traveling at high rates of speed at all. The first few times I saw the line of patrol cars I would usually think that there was a raid going down but then I realized that they would not be driving in circles and going to slow for it to be a raid
  13. The article said that the fire chief wanted this boat in part because the metal hull would allow the FD to keep the boat in the water all year round.
  14. Why cant they find oil in my backyard!!! :)
  15. What we need is the amount of force that an AC unit will create when dropped from a height of 10 feet. We have a 43 pounds AC unit will drop at a "constant" rate of 17.3 MPH hitting the ground with x force. the equation is mass times distance or rate = force so, 17.3mph x 43lb= 743.9 lb again this is what I can calculate given my limited knowledge of physics and my math skill skills.
  16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_velocity this article from wikipedia on terminal velocity says that "An object falling on Earth will fall 9.81 meters per second faster every second (9.81 m/s²)." So in our situation, the AC unit will reach terminal velocity in about 32.2 feet. However, in a ten foot fall, according to my calculation, the force of the AC unit hitting the ground would be tripled to more than 120 pounds but i believe that my assertions and assumptions could be wrong
  17. I think its cool that both Westchester County Grasslands/ Fire Training Center and the New York State Fire Academy have pumpers on a commercial chassis as opposed to a custom chassis. Any reason for this or is it just budget?
  18. Thats the second helicopter collision in less than a year Link to the story about the first: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_Phoenix_...opter_collision Rest in Peace
  19. Utility 54 is Airquest light and air trailer. Here is a picture: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2888064400098339608roPUwG

  21. I see them more often then one would think. I would see several a day when I was working in the Bronx. I would see about 10-15 cars lights and sirens just circling around Fordham Plaza.

  23. BSI is an EMS acronym that stands from Body Substance Isolation
  24. So then the number corresponds to unit number on that highway. So Baker-3 would be the third unit assigned to the BRP?
  25. They sensationalize the mundane and marginalize the significant.
