What I am encouraging people to do is for people to challenge the government if they feel that the government is not properly representing their intentions and beliefs. From The Declaration of Independence: "...it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness." We may condemn there actions and tactics now but back when it counted this men stood up what they believed in and enacted a change whose ripples are still being heard. In 250 years, how many people will be remembering/condemning our actions.

Dont worry about it, not very many people remember how often the ideas and works of Benjamin Franklin are used around them.

It was actually Benjamin Franklin who started the first volunteer fire company in Pennsylvania.

You do not need to be a volunteer in order to be patriot nor is it the "purist form of patriotism": -Voting in all elections, state, federal, local, school board whatever is being a patriot, using a freedom that our forefathers fought so long and hard for is more patriot than volunteering a few hours a week. -Upholding and swearing by the constitution in-spit of all the people that seek to destroy it is more patriot. -Dying in the name of this country and our freedom is a much higher degree of patriot than volunteering. -Working for a change that not only positively effects you but those around you. -And finally dissent against the government and standing up for what you believe in is more patriot than volunteering. I know people who were born in other countries and have be come legal citizens who are more patriotic than some of the volunteer fire fighter or citizens who were born here I know because they uphold the constitution, worked for a change, voted in every election they could and fought and died for my freedom.

What about the districts that you are entering if you are member of this manned mutual aid engine responding on this engine in a mutual aid call thats not in your district, or one immediately near it you will have no idea about area in which the call is located. We talk all the time about pre-plans and walk thrus but what good to those do if you have never seen any part of the district in which you are about operate in. Especially in Westchester where firefighters face various different property uses from industrial to commercial to residential all with various hazards and problems there is no way for a fire fighter to know every district that he is going to respond in. Tactics are also a very different from fire department to fire department, you have some districts with no municipal water supply next to districts that need 2 or 3 tankers upon the dispatch of a working fire. This mismatch of districts that we have in Westchester, in my opinion makes a concept like this difficult to use effectively and safely. I believe and I am sure that concept works well some places, just not here now. If regionalization were to occur I believe that my opinion would change. roofsopen kind of reiterated and clarified my point about response times as well.

Looking at the photos, I saw the same thing!!!!!!!!!!!!! What was that about, that seems like it is against everything I have ever been taught about STAT Flight landings and safe emergency vehicle operations.

The New York Times is reporting that Anheuser-Busch shareholders are being given $5 over the $65 stock price per share. And InBev's purchase of Anheuser-Busch allows Anheuser-Busch to open its product line up to more markets and in doing so they are hoping that they will be able to make massive amounts of money by marketing an "American Beer" overseas. If it works, which it is expected to do, Anheuser-Busch is expected to make the company and its stockholders a lot of money.

According to Lohud, alcohol did play a factor. I would find it hard to believe that drugs or alcohol would not play a role/factor in this type of incident.

What does the response time look like for this engine? While getting out the door might be a snap, if the call is far away from the staffed engine, then the engine could be too far away to be make any difference and if it is staffed by members of the district in which the call came from, you could be taking away more members away than you would be gaining from the staffed engine. If they are too busy on the staffed rig, they will not be properly staff their home department.

I have had the distinct pleasure of both meeting the guys on the "First Due to the Zoo" at Engine 88/Ladder 38 and working at the zoo(as a keeper). I am sure that the guys on the first due did an amazing job given the unique situation/incident in-which they were faced. They are a great bunch of guys and they are always work well in and around the unique area that Fordham is. As far as the animals, as soon as the keepers found out that the tram was stuck and the people needed to be rescued, they would have send the animals into their cages. The animals there are all very begin as they have all been habituated to living in the South Bronx and I have the data and research to prove it.

In order to strip norther westchester of any of its resources, especially tankers, it needs to be a huge incident when I believe Yonkers had its water-mains shut off for a night and over half a dozen tankers were down in Southern Westchester. Many towns north of Chappaqua/Mount Kisco has a tanker Tankers above Mt. Kisco: Katonah Banksville Armonk Bedford Hills Croton Croton Falls Somers Millwood Pound Ridge Vista Yorktown South Salem There is no way sending Armonks or Banksvilles tanker will even remotely stretch resources Also even thought Pleasantvilles tanker does not have a pump it can still dump into a portable pond and have source pumper draft to feed attack engines using LDH. However, filling the tanker once its empty might be a problem.

Why call Banksvilles tanker when Pleasantvilles tanker is closer.
