  1. You can get them from ConEd..... There was a thread about them...I will look for it when I get a chance
  2. Empire is becoming or has become Hudson Valley Paramedics
  3. These pictures were taken infront of the Westchester EMS location in Mount Kisco on Main Street by the hospital across the street from Friendlys. There are always the fly-cars or their ambulances or POVs with FD/EMS identifications on them in that general area. Its either the supervisors car, or the ALS fly car to the van ambulances or the box ambulance and the staff/supervisor car that they park in back out front. I know that all of the cars based out of Mount Kisco are 45-Medic, I am just curious to see where this individual car is assigned, whether it is permanently for temporarily assigned to the 45-Medics.
  4. Why werent they on the Trunk Radio system in the first place?

  6. I found this line very interesting in the User's List: "Of particular interest are Rescues with roof mounted cranes" 12.13 CRANE 12.13.1 A telescoping crane is required to deploy and recover the boat. We would also like to be able to use the crane as a gin pole. The crane shall be located on the left side of the roof (unless its stored position is below the vehicle roofline). The following capabilities are required: •A working tip load of at least six hundred (600) pounds, to meet the intent of NFPA 1983’s 600 pounds two (2) person working load. This rating is needed at least ten (10) feet outboard from the crane side of the apparatus and four (4) feet from the opposite side of the apparatus. Proper angles for this operation must be clearly documented with a visible indicator or safety system in place. Minimum of thirty (30) feet of lowering / raising capability PLUS, the height of the crane above ground. •If at all possible (and does not compromise safety), we would like to avoid the need for jacks or other stabilizing system. •Power for the crane can be provided by the Hippo unit. •Controls shall be on a twenty five (25) foot long pendant that is connected in either compartment L-1 or on top of the apparatus. 12.13.2 The NRFD does not have the engineering experience or capability to determine an appropriate crane module for this application. Unit capabilities, boom length, crane angle and height of the unit are all critical considerations. 12.13.3 Based on the maximum road height of one hundred thirty six (136) inches only allows for approximately one (1) foot of clearance above the roof. It appears to us that the crane may require between one (1) and two (2) feet for clearance. Drop down side panels or some other system, or a taller boom “up” position to allow for clearance may need to be employed. While we will entertain any potential mounting location, we believe that the left side of the vehicle will be safer due to arched bridges and other road clearance issues. 12.13.4 While NRFD is in no position to recommend a make and / or model at this time, we consider the Auto Crane model 5005H to be a good starting point for planning. 12.13.5 Two (2) Havis-Shield FX-9 Spot/Flood Light Heads shall be affixed to the end of the crane boom, facing the snatch block/hook. Switch shall be located on the remote or in compartment L-1 (near hippo unit controls for power to crane.
  7. I love the graphics.........very well done
  8. Second that. Like 585 said, however in fewer words.......its apathy on the part of my generation towards their community and the neighbors that leads to this lack of recruitment. It maybe due to re-focused and rebounded efforts but I have begun to see a surge towards younger people starting young and moving through the ranks.
  9. Elmsford Fire Department runs EMS. This website will provide him with all of the information he needs. http://www.elmsfordfd.com
  10. If you look it JBEs post above its says: "Engine 5 to 92, and they caught a first due job a few hours later."
  11. A little off topic but how are the FDNY fire boats staffed? Is there a dedicated crew on duty or is man power called from other stations?
  12. Crimson Fire, a Spartan Company builds truck bodies for Spartan. However, I believe in this case, since the the builder of the body had nothing to do with the manufacturing of cab/chassis (to the best of my knowledge) then the builder of the cab/chassis could be held responsible if this terrible accident was their fault.
  13. Doesnt matter...all that counts is that E88/L38 was a handful of action last night. I am biased however......First Due The Zoo baby.
  14. What is the year and who builds these unique fireboats?
  15. I think we can agree that this is fully involved?
  16. There are somethings that we all need to remember: 1) Strontium 90 is an element that occurs naturally in nature so it would be common to find this element anywhere. 2) The levels of radiation in the well was 1/16th the level the federal government set as deemed unsafe to drink 3) If that is the case, then there is more radiation/health hazards in your basement due to radon then currently posed by the leaks at Indian point 4) These leaks and levels are nothing new, according to the article, the reason why they found Strontium 90 was due to improved testing procedure, practices and more sensitive tests. 5) Finally, according to one study, Indian Point and Entergy have a massive public relations problem.
  17. 27...it was pretty easy if you have taken the NYS US History regents in the past 5-10 years.
  18. Bedford: Best Regulation Best Antique.
  19. If you go to the American LaFrance Dealer Locator feature here: http://www.americanlafrance.com/interior.a...mp;p=6&s=29 It says that the regional American LaFrance dealer for 10549 is still Garrison Fire & Rescue Corp.
  20. I heard the tones go out for this call and I could have sworn that dispatch toned out for a Hartsdale engine but I could be wrong. I was really tired about to go to bed.
  21. I had a little bit of a brain-lapse. I mixed up Scarsdale and Larchmont.
  22. A little bit off topic to excuse me but regarding American LaFrance, have they started production on preexisting orders yet? What is the status of the company. I know it has or was going to come out of Chapter 11 but I have not heard any news regarding its situation at all. What happened to Yonkers ALF TL orders?
  23. They did not catch a Secret Service Agent, what they got was an informant. Albert Gonzalez was the ring leader and according to the article, "Gonzalez was a U.S. Secret Service informant who helped the agency take over a Web site being used to transmit stolen identifiers and stolen credit card numbers, U.S. Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan said at the news conference."
  24. The white utility...utility 76 will be used to pull the county trailers. As for the red one, since it is marked "Fire Brigade", I would guess that it is for the Grasslands Fire Brigade and replacing the previous utility 3, a 1985 Chevy Van.
