  1. ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL WE WILL NEVER FORGET THE 343
  2. These radio transmissions are harrowing, absolutely harrowing. I can not begin to tell you the emotions that are stirred up every year at this time. When the weather first starts turning colder and the leaves on the trees start turning, I can not help but turn to the September sky and remember that terrible, terrible day. It marks a time of reflection and mourning that I will never be able to forget, because to forget is to lose and no one wants to lose that big again.
  3. I am curious to see the HME apparatus representation in Westchester and neighboring countues? Who has one, who is thinking of getting one? I know of Mount Kisco R-15, DES L-7, Croton E-118, Yonkers L-70, 72, 73, 74, L76, E-300, 315, 316, 317 and Stamford and associated departments have multiple HMEs. What are some the things you liked/ did not like in regards to the HME Chassis?
  4. Upon my first read I thought you meant that the White Castle was on fire. That would have been a national tragedy. That White Castle is 45 minutes from my house and is most likely the best White Castle in the country. Good stop otherwise. Was this in 38/88 first due. I am trying to picture the closest fire houses to this fire and I am not sure as to the first due but I am pretty sure it is 38/88
  5. They are going to SUVs because an SUV can hold much more than Crown Victoria. With the IC boards, radios, turnout gear, SCBA, tools and duties of chief it makes sense that they would need a much bigger car. LACoFD is giving some of their chiefs for F-350s with a utility box on it carrying anything that might be needed at a scene that an chief is called to.
  6. I have spent about $600 on books so far and I still need two more, I just thank good that they are not textbooks. My Chemistry and Biology books were $450 for this semester alone.
  7. Could not be happier
  8. DOC, I hope that you feel better and get well soon.
  9. As long as they do not do it on ab ambulance that is not tax payer funded then there is nothing with it as long as the clergy member wont be there doing nothing sitting on their hands.
  10. Was is the NRFD ladder that had the ladder failure?
  11. I never understood the mid-engine pumper. Whats the deal with them?
  12. Nice Truck... Looks like the NYPD Breathing Air Unit built by Pierce. I really like the picture with the out-board motor in its custom built shelves. Something about that struck me as comical.
  13. As part of my last week at home before I leave for college in Vermont, my parents and I took a weekend getaway to The City of Brotherly Love or Philadelphia, PA. On my last day there (today) we stumbled upon the Fireman's Hall Museum, somewhat close to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and the National Constitution Museum. Here are a few of the trucks that were on display inside: In order they are a 1903 Philadelphia Water Cannon, 1926 American LaFrance and a 1907 Metropolitan Steamer.
  14. Finally we have a 1730 Hand Pump from London England. This is one of two that served Philadelphia and then sold to Germantown, PA and a obilesk marking when this fire house was build. Link to website: http://www.firemanshall.org
  15. Reaney, Neafle & Co 1858 Steamer and two shots of a 1896 LaFrance Hayes Ladder
  16. Thats a great article.....thanks for posting it here. I do not know if I would have found it other-wise.
  17. The last one is great but they are all rather funny. The most "interesting" one is definitely number 2.
  18. Anyone from Yorktown have any additional information to share? Now will it be yellow again or will it be red like a real fire truck?
  19. So does pay while in the academy stay the same or does that raise too?
  20. There are pictures on lohud.com of the building during what looks like the few moments directly after the collapse.
  21. I believe that this REP has been featured on this site before. I think it was in a thread about an unknown REP and it turned out to be this truck. This is the K-9 if I am not mistaken.
  22. When are these considered build, in 2007 or 2008?
  23. So whats going to happen regarding the old fire house now?
  24. I know that this fire could have been really bad but roofsopen, I am sorry I am not sure if you meant it like that but your statement is hystarical. Good Job WPFD, I work in White Plains and was on my way to work when this happened, thank you for containing a possibly very bad fire that would have ruined a few peoples day.
