Shame, Glens Falls and Lake George region are really neat especially if you love the outdoors. I think that the ADK mountains are some of the best in the northeast. The problem is all of the tourists make that area a little scummy at times. I was looking forward to going this year and spending time on the lake where I spent about 6 summers

Sharp looking truck. I really like the rear warning light system. Who built the truck, Specialty Warning Systems?

What is that truck on the left? It looks like a spartan with a mack bulldog and grill on it.

Are there any mack of any age still in the FDNY. I know most of the foam units, all of the high rise units and most of the collapse rescues are Macks but what others are there?

Not the 75th anniversary of the end of prohibition. The passing of the 21st amendment to United States Constitution which repealed the 18th Amendment to the United States Constitution. The 18th Amendment, created what is know as Prohibition when Congress banned alcohol in the United States. On December 5th, 2008, it will 75 years to the day that the 21st amendment passed and it was legal to drink and get drunk in the United States.

I think 13 tankers were used for the lumber yard fire in Vista a year or two ago.

A little off topic but two St. Louis quints acting as engine companies crashed, article here: http://firefighterclosecalls.com/fullstory.php?73357

Wow, this is a really good idea. I really like how the community, business and the fire department rallied together for fire saftey and prevention. I am sure that this could be used else where.

Last I heard, they still had the Maxim ladder but it did not have any equipment on it nor had passed inspection of the ladder or was in service when I last enquired.

Dear god, I feel terrible for whoever poor souls had to repack all of the 5 inch off of 108 and 110 and even all of the hose on scene.

Does anyone have the complete unit run down for both of the working fires?

Bedford has been called to that house four times in the past 24hrs including the initial call and the three additional rekindle calls. I am really curious to hear all of the details about this one when I get home.

http://www.lohud.com/article/20081007/NEWS02/810070432 ALBANY - Former Briarcliff Manor Fire Chief Joseph Piazzi, who died of a heart attack last year after responding to a number of calls related to a violent storm that roared through the area, was one of 10 deceased firefighters honored at a ceremony here today. The name of Piazzi, who was 76 when he died last May 16, was added to the state's Fallen Firefighters Memorial on the Empire State Plaza near the state Capitol. His sister, JoAnn Piazzi of Briarcliff Manor, attended the ceremony and accepted a flag from state officials, which was distributed after remarks from Sen. Hillary Clinton, Gov. David Paterson and other officials. "I thought it was a moving ceremony,'' she said. "It was very impressive.'' Piazzi was stricken after returning home following his responses to nine storm-related calls that day. He was chief of the Briarcliff manor department from 1983 to 1985, and was a captain in the Mount Vernon Fire Department prior to that. He was deputy chief and fire police captain in Briarcliff Manor the time of his death. There are 2,336 names on the memorial, which was established in 1998. "Firefighters offer to risk their lives every day to keep others safe,'' Paterson said. "They're great people.'' Firefighters "represent the best that New York has to offer,'' Clinton said. "Thank you for the noble calling you have been willing to embrace,'' she said to the hundreds of firefighters in the audience. Also honored was a contingent of firefighters from the Orangetown Fire Department of South Nyack, who bicycled to the Capitol as part of an effort to raise $3,000 to help the families of firefighters attend Tuesday's ceremony.
