  1. I could be wrong but as it has been explained to me...in New York State, you do not have to pull over and stop for any vehicle that does not say POLICE on it. If it has flashing red lights, even if you think it is an unmarked car, you do not have to stop if it does not say Police. Is this correct? Other than that, it was brought up on this board a while ago about a rescue truck in FL I think following a suspect until PD arrived. This seems like a much better idea than pulling a car over.
  2. I would love to know if this could actual work....it looks like it does, but more information is needed. I know of a few places that would love technology like this not only to bring some costs down but to actually be green. After all, where I go to school is all about the green.
  3. The Bronto does telescope somewhat. http://www.e-one.com/products.htm?lineID=1...ID=12&id=11 The Sky Arm does the same thing. http://www.piercemfg.com/Model.html?ModelI...b9-1e2982b89079
  4. What engine companies will be getting the new pumpers and which companies have already recieved their new rig?
  5. If it is safer to have the straps to prevent that massive SCBA to go flying if the rig is involved in an accident, then I will take that extra 5 seconds to make sure that the lanyard system is working correctly. It is the same principle as the helmet holders in the cabs, its going to create a few less dangerous projectiles in the back of the rig. Fire fighting is dangerous enough as it is....there is absolutely no reason why you should not be as safe as can be. And who cares if it is different or inconvinent. Im sure that they thought SCBAs, enclosed cabs, PASS alarms and seatbelts were too different to work in initially, yet there use and function have been proved times and time again. We should not have to be discussing the merits of having less, unrestrained flying objects in rig. P.S. Great Looking Engine....looks very well laid out and functional. When is delivery expected?
  6. idiot....thank god that the giants dont need him like the patriots need tom brady.
  7. Thats the video I was looking for last night.
  8. Sharp looking car. I believe that I saw this car at the MacDonalds by Iona when I was visiting my friend who goes there.
  9. I do not know why I said plain clothes.....I meant uniformed Sorry
  10. I was in the city taking mass transit and let me tell you....I did not see a single unifromed officer all day. It was actually weird, I did not see one on any of the buses I took, or on the subway, or in Grand Central. I did see one national guard soldier in Grand Central at that little desk thing and the little stretcher cart by the station masters officer but other than that not a single NYPD officer anywhere.
  11. How did the in-service ladder situation (or lack there of) affect the 3 alarm fire last night?
  12. There are photos floating around somewhere of the interior. It looked really spacious and well laid out. A lot of room for the four guys back there. There also looked like there were going to be racks for a set of irons on the inside.
  13. I am not going to speak for Yonkers or the FD but there have been times within memory in which the water-mains were down and tankers were called in. This could be used to replace one or many of the tankers that might need to be called in in case their district can not get any water.
  14. They are a combination of LEDs and halogen rotators. There are some pictures on main page of www.fdnytrucks.com that shows the rotators and LEDs. Does anyone know who makes these and where one could get one?
  15. Finally someone said something...... Chris....I could not agree with you more
  16. Rest In Peace LT.
  17. I was in that pat of the city today. There was the FDNY family van and a small shrine was in front of the house. I also walked by the intersection where it happened. Other than a little bit of debris, I could not tell that anything had happened.
  18. http://www.lohud.com/article/20081120/NEWS03/811200519 Father, son, two ambulance crew members hurt in Ramapo crash Ambulance was totaled....hope everyone recovers soon Any details as per the accident, the article is rather vague.
  19. NY Post Pictures: http://www.nypost.com/photos/galleries/new...uck/photo08.htm Apparently, the most injured firefighter was the first female firefighter to join the rescue squad
  20. Who the hell cares...... Great looking truck, reminds me of the TL in the town over from mine in VT.
  21. Not Saturday but last night Bedford had a fatal MVA http://www.lohud.com/article/20081122/NEWS...1/1209/NEWS0201
  22. It does not appear that any sort of cabinets in the back if that is what you are asking. It appears that this van is used as a man and materials transporter, similar to any actual bus that any other fire department has for these tasks. Yonkers, White Plains, Somers, Scarsdale, Port Chester, Montrose, Fairview or Eastchester have apparatus similar in concept to this it appears.
  23. It looks like you are right unfortunately....if you zoom the picture you can clearly see a dash light and what looks like a maltese cross above the inspection.
  24. Stay away....it is useless and it will slowly eat away at your time until the point where you automatically check it everytime to get onto a computer. Its kinda like this site in that regard only I feel a lot less guilty when I come on here.
  25. Is that a BMW chiefs car in the last picture?
