  1. Lohud article with pictures: http://www.lohud.com/article/20081219/NEWS...12190400/0/NEWS
  2. Wow....one of the worst snow storms in their history they say. Looks like the general public had no idea what to do...also looks like PD/FD/EMS did a good job handling a very different type of condition outside and on the roads than they were used to. Meanwhile we in the Northeast go about our normal lives snow or no snow....but some times like now, we get hit (or about to get hit) by a Nor'easter that really screw a lot of people up.
  3. Great job by the FD in blocking the scene. If you read the article, it says due to the fire truck blocking off a lane, the tractor trailer crashed into the back of the fire truck and not the PD cruisers preventing serious injury or death to the troopers.
  4. The former MA-11 is a 1969 GMC/Bean/Stihl Here is a link to a picture, it is on the bottom: http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/other.../Banksville.htm
  5. Were gonna get some more too.....
  6. Here is a link to an article in the New York Times about the services that BNN provides area "buffs" and news agencies. I thought that it was interesting that the people at BNN said they only get their information from over the air transmissions. That knowing the history that it has. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/17/nyregion/17breaking.html
  7. That is absolutely tragic! You have my deepest condolences...... Please tell me there will be a Mack antique.
  8. Does any one know what condition this rig is in? I thought it got in a was involved in an MVA? Where is the damage? If its in good condition, lets hope it makes it way back into active service.
  9. Wow great shots..... Looks like awesome positioning by TL6 and L32s drivers/officers.....very, very tight quarters to get those massive ladder trucks in to and still able get the ladder sections flown up and flowing water. I love the picture of the water running under ladder 32. I drove by this building everyday after work going home.
  10. Where sharp.....who outfitted it? When is it expected to be inservice and what is to become of the current 2092?
  11. Isnt the current (former) ladder 21 a 1976 Seagrave..... after 32 years of active service doesn't it seem like the truck needs to be replaced or refurbished during that time frame. I have no idea how busy VMFD is but I do know of very many if any 30+ year old rigs still operating in this county. Any one know who might get to replace this rig?
  12. One way I have seen to distribute the work is to assign certain tools to a seat and have whoever sits there to get those tools. The officer will then tell everyone where to go and what to do.
  13. Link to pictures on firefighterclosecalls.com showing the difference between the Hi-Vis vest and normal turn out gear under a few varied conditions: http://firefighterclosecalls.com/fullstory.php?76636
  14. Were the sprinklers and fire alarm hooked up or just installed. That could have made a huge difference if not.
  15. Article about the fire from lohud.com http://www.lohud.com/article/20081212/NEWS02/812120427 I have a question about WHFD staffing.... How many firefighters does White Plains staff each of its engines, ladders and rescue with?
  16. grumpy, you forgot option C: Someone dies due to the lack of a paramedic in the area and having to come from a surrounding district.
  17. Congrats BHFD I now this has been in the works for a little bit.
  18. Really Sharp!!! I love the way that looks... When do we get to see some more photos?
  19. I heard and read that you can do New York State Firefighter 1 on-line? How does that work in terms of certification and time frame?
  20. Here are a few really bad, quick shots I got of a new ambulance that I have been seeing at the WEMS HQ in Mount Kisco Really sharp looking rig, I love the massive chevron pattern and arrowstick on the back.
  21. Thanks for the heads up
  22. Sure why not...im down to put in a buck
  23. Apparently they really needed only for that long. I was reading their history some where and it was talking about how they were down a front line pumper for a very long time and had to borrow some ones else's reserve while they figured out what they were doing and bought a replacement.
  24. This is that same fly car that has been featured here before correct?
