Here is a good read that I liked for those interested....its a classic Truck Company Operations by John Mitterdorf...the section on ground ladder is very interesting. Here is a link to the book: http://books.google.com/books?id=_PjyYSnnL...rations#PPP1,M1

More than that...I room full of fire trucks AND firemen both retired and active needs sprinklers....define irony. But of course we all know that it is for the best that it is this way.

I could be wrong and someone from NRFD correct me if I am wrong but I believe they have a Pierce ladder, rescue and spare engine currently.

What equipment is on here that makes it a service company other than the holmantro tool and PPV fans? Also, regarding the foam systems, your wording on the specs are a little vague to me im sorry if this is obvious but when you say 200' class B foam line and 100' foot trash-line in the bumper, does the foam application only come from the 200' line in the bumper or can you get foam from other discharges as well?
-
LOOONG rig..... Anyone have the specs....how long between the time of being taken OOS and it getting back inservice in its new home?
-
Is it important that all FFs sit facing forward? Any special reason for that?
-
Those mirrors are a great idea....now that I know you can get those why don't more rigs come with those? looks great....good luck Was delivery delayed? If so how long?
-
Wow....looks great Good Luck

I have had this conversation with a few local cops I know as well as some of my peers. What I think it comes down to is attitude over hair. If a cop comes in with a military style haircut giving orders, taking names, kicking butt. Then the public is going to have some problems with the police. We do not live in a military state, the people who protect us should not be trying to make themselves feel/look like they are anyway involved in anything like the military even if they were previously. There is no reason for that kind of intimidation and attitude. Officers that I see that a rough and tumble with terrible attitudes regarding how they handle situations and their treatment of John Q Public are the ones that always get terrible reputations and end up creating hostility between law enforcement and the community. When I see an officer barking orders looking like he just stepped into his police uniform from a military uniform it does not make me think highly with the officer nor does it create an environment of cooperation and respect. Respect is not given it is earned, and officers who intimidate via how they care themselves and look do not foster this sense. When I have an encounter with an officer who does not handle themselves in a manner I believe to be appropriate I make sure not only do I make sure the officer knows that he is not giving off the right attitude and I make sure his superiors know as well. Officers that insist on breaking balls contribute the most to this problem. I am/we are not to be intimidated or threatened by police officers, it is the attitude and performance of the officer dictates the extent in which one is going to find problems. That being said, I know officers who are bald that I can trust to do the right thing and have a great attitude and I know officers who are bald that I know I never want to deal with while they are working because I know there high and mighty attitude will do much more harm than good.

Thank you for your time and effort....it is appreciated....these lists are one of my favorite things about this site. I am highly anticipating this list if you can not tell......

I think it is important, if possible to determine the types of burns he had. Chemical, electrical and flame burns can all be caused by certain things but do not always look alike. Is it possible that he spilled some sort of household chemical on himself that caused these as well.

I am looking for more than just my musing.....I am looking for industry specifics, reasons, examples and things like that. I just listed what I thought could be a problem but I have no first hand knowledge on High Rise Firefighter I would like some information regarding the supergraphic and its potential as a fire hazard. I am looking for information from say an officer or firefighter from one of the bigger cities (NYC, Yonkers and White Plains come to mind), regarding tactics and need to knows for these signs for my own information and for posterity purposes.
-
I wonder in someone could elaborate on how exactly it is a fire safety hazard. I can understand the "supergraphic" catching on fire and I can understand that it "might" pose a risk to firefighters when venting the window in that one might not be able to vent the window correctly but what fire hazards are they talking about specifically.

I am not sure about recording (which I am sure can be done) but I have seen a thermal imager hooked up to a broadcast system and I have seen what the thermal imager is saw only inside of the engine watching in on the back up camera monitor.

nice truck.....love the grille mounted warning systems A lot of light in there.
-
Nevermind, picture of vehicle in question has been posted on lohud.com

Looks good....where did you get the new Mack pumper from?
-
It does look like there is some form of rear warning device installed to the top of the trunk area. It is unclear about the front. Looks good, who outfitted it?
-
Which car was it? Was it the Tahoe with the two light bars on it, one big one in front and a smaller one in back or was it some other car?
-
Good to see that there is at least one Mack CF left in the FDNY fleet..... Does the FDNY have any ceremonial or antique fire apparatus, if they don't they should think of keeping a CF for old times sake.

Isnt there a town some where (it was mention on here I just have no idea where), that cross trains its cops as Fireman, Police Officer and Paramedic and equips them for all three. Could that be the answer you were looking for?

Confirmation is in that the Pilot (C.B. "Sully" Sullenberger) is a 1970's graduate of the United States Air Force where he flew F-4s before joining what has become US Airways. It looks like he was the passengers guardian angel today....he even has (or had) his own set of wings.

I respect your opinion and in no way am trying to tell you that you need to believe or even listen to what I am saying. I am only stating my opinion based upon facts and research, I am enjoying this banter, I hope you are too. This right here proves the strength of the American, Democratic system. Obama is not perfect, not my any means or stretch of the imagination, but I think he is the best damn thing this country has going for it right now. And I am not reading off "Fight The Smears" script or anything like that, I do not even have any idea what you are talking about...but I will say that my opinion is based on undeniable facts, credited research and careful fact finding.

I will defend the president that I helped elect from detractors to the best of the ability. That being said, I do not support every decision Obama has made, including and not limited to his choice for secretary of state. And as far as Katrina is concerned, it is the ignorance, lack of required information, in-action, failed policies and decisions, cronyism and incompetence of the Bush Administration has lead to the unregulated and wasteful spending that is synonymous with the 2005 Hurricane Season as well as pork barrel spending and the failing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
