The law is designed to protect both the criminals (Miranda/Constitution) and the general public (Constitution). The law extents its protection to anyone in and under its sovereignty regardless of accusations (Read innocent until proven guilty which has become less and less of a reality in this world). While in public and driving on a public highway while in posession of NY state tags then one has no reasonable expectation of privacy under the common-law. Anyone that says that you have nothing to hide has nothing to fear should reread the Forth Amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America.

Reminds me more of an impala than a charger or crown vic..... Looks good to me, as long as it gets the job done and has no issues. Does the hybrid model get better gas mileage or something to justify the increase in price or is it for P.R. purposes.

According to lohud.com the warehouse was used by Conserv Construction http://www.lohud.com/article/2008902060387

No worries

Is that a serious question? Info on Verplanck if so: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verplanck,_New_York http://maps.google.com/maps?client=safari&...l=en&tab=wl

True, maybe it should have been better classified as fluid spill but I know of many calls for fluid spills in roadways or near/in water supplies that come in as HAZ-MAT and Hazard on the I-PAGE

its says in the first post: "The car landed perfectly in the stream with a ruptured gas line and oil pan. Absorbent pads were placed at the source and booms were placed down stream."

Found on LoHud.com. Very interesting article about the Yorktown Auxiliary Police and how they want the same tax break as VAC and VFD members get....one would have thought that these guys would have gotten it before VACs and VFDs. Definitely a good use of taxpayer money if the article is correct. Yorktown auxiliary cops want volunteer tax break: http://www.lohud.com/article/20090206/NEWS02/902060366

The first two words out of my lawyers mouth when I told him about this..."First Amendment". The next words, verbatim is "How do I become this guys lawyer, this guy is about to make a lot of money." This guy is gonna be rich and now we are going to have to bail-out Amtrak....again Man these cops are going to be paying hell for this.....

While I am not familiar with LACoFD Lifeguard operations, I can assume that the reason for the black wheels is that it is going to be driving on sand and other off road places along the coastline and thus chrome or other style rims will become warn and faded so by going with black rims there is a lesser chance of the rims getting dirty and losing chrome. That style lightbar is also on Katonah cars 2211 and 2213 if I am not mistaken.... That style lightbar is made by Federal Signal under the brand name Arjent. Here are some specs: http://www.fedsig.com/products/config/inde...rames.arjent_sl http://www.fedsig.com/products/config/inde...rames.arjent_s2

I was using Westchester as an example a BLS agency with much fewer runs of having epi-pens, I could have easily said any urban/rural rescue squad here in Vermont. Which I should have considering that would be a better example of volunteer agencies with short response times and low call volume all carrying epi-pens at the BLS level.
-
Not unless they recently took delivery of a 2004/5 E-One 100' Rearmount that already had been inservice for years as Ladder 8...... Maybe what you are thinking of is Newarks new American LaFrance Rearmount or Jersey Citys 2005 E-One Rearmount as Ladder 9 but looks much nicer.
-
Should someone with heart problems carry a real AED with them where ever they go....... While it would be nice for everyone with these issues to carry an epi-pen it is very easy to forget it, lose it, have one expire before a replacement can be obtained or you could be incapacitated and unable to inform those you have it or use it yourself. Even if it is 99% with it that 1% needs to be addressed.... Apparently little Johnny Q's public day camp is better equipped to deal with anaphylactic emergencies than a BLS tour is considering almost every summer camp I have worked at or was a camper at had a well established, trained and ready staff of nurses and EMTs ready to dispense this life saving medication.
-
Who are we/they kidding......... Why would they not keep an epi-pen on all rigs...... This is a travesty and New York should be ashamed of itself, this is a medical innovation that has saved thousands of lives and requires little medical training to use. They are very lucky more people have not died because of this. I have used one on myself when I was 10 when I needed it, if I can do it then some 18 year old fresh off the test should be able to do it, let alone a BLS tour in an EMS system with 1,000,000 calls a year. They carry epi-pens on BLS buses in Westchester, why not on a BLS bus in the city is beyond me.
-
Lets hope its a bad guy, if it was an innocent by-stander then there is going to be more than a little bit of hell to pay...... The end of the article has a very interesting line: The operation was so big, the street in front of the Bridgeport FBI office was turned into a parking lot for all the vehicles and agencies involved.

Up in this part they usually just get stuck in the mud...... Thank god no one was hurt.

I believe the story of this captain has been posted here before, however, these developments im sure are new and quite eye-opening for those involved on the cities end.

You mean cheaper lights? LEDs cost a fortune...

Contrast maybe?

Vermont has one of the better systems I have seen. They have all blue while the fire department and rescue squads have red. There is no green from EMS, blue for fire and red for police. Volunteer police get blue in their POV while volunteer fire and rescue get red. All with sirens, and there has never been a case of pretending to be a police officer with legally obtained lights (to the best of my knowledge). This way it makes more sense I feel. If you look at this PDF, it outlines what you need here. It is a much further indepth process than in New York: http://www.aot.state.vt.us/DMV/documents/T...Application.pdf Here are applicable sections of Vermonts V&T laws: http://www.leg.state.vt.us/statutes/fullse...p;Section=01015 http://www.leg.state.vt.us/statutes/fullse...p;Section=01251 http://www.leg.state.vt.us/statutes/fullse...p;Section=01252

Nice truck..... FYI, it is really hard to get a good look at the truck with it being so far back in the album. What are the specs?
-
Rest in Peace.......... Let the bastard who did this swing and then feed his body to the dogs, the perp deserves nothing better........
-
Ok, now I understand. Thank you for the clarification.

Yes but can't you also be the target of similar liability if you are already out on the a medical call and another call comes in and there is no one able to make the save? Is there not an obligation for the fire department to provide its tax payers with fire-rescue services, which may or may not include first response.
