Considering I was once wrongfully stopped by a Greek Orthodox Priest that was authorized to use lights and sirens I would not be surprised. Confused and questioning the need yes but surprised no. Here is NYS VTL is you want them: http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/vtl.htm

I have a lot of respect for the guys down in SONO....having working at the aquarium before, the SONO area is a older, historic district that could pose great difficulties to responders. The building uses have changed and been renovated many times, I know a few buildings that started as factories and are now offices, storage and manufacturing as well as other extremely varied mixed uses. I know of one building that started as cold storage building that has been renovated and now has a storage facility, printing and engraving press and small electronics repair and a small manufacturing shop in it and another that started as a train steam engine builder and a iron working shop that now houses part of the aquarium. The street layout is very tight and this area of Norwalk is very busy...combine that with the difficulties that a waterfront pose to response and operations, a TDA would not be a bad idea. If only the price tag was not so large. Good Luck, I hope guys have good fortune and get what you need and want.

Whats the price tag?

That is one of the largest misconceptions of Iran....The people do not support the government but the government and the religious autocracy have complete control of the people and the nukes but rule with an iron fist. Even if 75% of the people did not vote for Ahmadinejad that does not change the fact that the country is ruled by the religious leaders and elite, specifically the Ayatollah. Iran is a Islamic "Republic" but the decision making and process is made by the Ayatollah but expressed through the President. The Iranian people support the religious leadership but not their politics, they are content with Sharia Law and Jurispurdence but not the anti-western views that the government holds. While the leaders hands are full with the election results....that will not stop them from obtaining and producing nuclear weapons unless a major leadership change takes place. If the current leaders stay in power they are going to work even harder than before to obtain nuclear capabilities because they will believe it is best for their people whose support they believe they have. If these election results stand, the Iranian government will be even more brazen that before. Iran's greatest asset is its citizens because they will start a Velvet Revolution once the wool is removed from their eyes....something that is going to happen soon if this election remains so contested. The country is broke, falling apart and greatly divided along party, secular and ethnic lines, all thanks to the current government. If Iran does get nuclear weapons, anything we do against them, from sanctions to intervention, will be seen as a direct attack against Iran, the Middle East and Islam. And that for one scares the living day lights out of me. Not some bipolar wacko that is being watched like a hawk that will get obliterated if they even get close to a real launch.

I would be alot more worried about Iran than North Korea. While they might be unstable and irrational , they are not dumb. They know that if they do anything, the ENTIRE world will be against them. If Iran tries anything most of the Muslim world will be beside them to defend them against western, imperialist nations that they see as trying to detract from their religion and Muslim ideals.

Rest In Peace These rescue squads in VT are very organized, tight knit, well trained, professional and proficient. A rescue squad in Vermont is more like a volunteer municipal EMS service than a VAC or EMS squad as we in New York know it.

The traffic was an absolute nightmare......I mean apparatus waiting for 30 minutes on windy rural one way roads to move one mile from where they were told to go to where they actually should have gone.....

Question: If you believe that an arrest is illegal, without merit or not legitimate can you request their supervisor to the scene to either back-up the officer or refute the arrest? If an arrest is later found to be illegitimate what resources do you have at your disposal and what recourses do you have?

American LaFrance has experienced significant delays in delivering new apparatus due to their fiscal problems. When ALF changed owners, separated from its partners and went bankrupt in 2007 much of its apparatus manufacturing ceased because it did not have the money or the capital to have loans to buy parts needed. This caused many units to sit on the assembly line for months or years before they could be completed. It happened to a department by my school in Vermont and it appears to have happened to white plains.

Agreed 110%.....

According to NFPA 1901, #3. Reflective striping meets the current standard: "In the body area...reflective striping was required on all four sides of the apparatus." http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:a4xiv_...p;client=safari Rear Reflective Markings. Fifty percent of the rear-facing vertical surface of all vehicles must now be covered withreflective red and yellow stripes in a chevron pattern sloping downward from the center of the vehicle at a 45-degreeangle. The stripes must be 6 in wide, instead of the minimum combined width of 4 in specified on the sides and front.Although there is some latitude on the exact shade of yellow to be used, other colors may not be substituted. http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:FEfuDg...p;client=safari My understanding is since NFPA is a set of recommendations, they are not law and therefore fire departments are not bound to follow them. NFPA has included a clause that makes fire apparatus manufactures exempt from liability if the ordering fire department signs a waiver acknowledging that they are willing accepting a manufactured fire apparatus that does not conform to NFPA 1901. This allows fire departments the ability to still have the apparatus they desire and frees the builder from any liability associated with the fire apparatus that is not NFPA compliant. List of Deviations. Some departments like to install or modify minor items on new vehicles themselves or havesomeone locally do it. Special reflective tape designs, hosebeds covers and tool mounts are typical examples. Under thenew NFPA standard, vehicle manufacturers must provide a list of all items that do not comply with the standard or thatneed to be installed in order to comply. This list will appear on the final specifications, and customers will be required tosign an acknowledgement that these items must be corrected or installed before the vehicle is placed in emergencyservice. Contrary to what some departments may think, this is not a legalized waiver system that allows them to install non-compliant components or omit other components by simply signing them off. Instead, it is a legally binding documentthat places full responsibility on the customers to make the vehicle compliant before operating it. In some cases, manufacturers may even refuse to install non-compliant items or omit other items if they feel the customers can not, orwill not, do the work properly after delivery. http://74.125.47.132/search?q=cache:FEfuDg...p;client=safari

If you thought that the first video was bad then this second was even worse for the officer. I really hope that the final outcome is really scathing for this officer and his department because his actions is a reflection on OHP and his actions were not only deplorable but also inappropriate and unnecessary. Not only was the ambulance crew acting appropriately but the officer over reacted and potentially endangered the patient....

So is Dr. Strangelove.....

According to LFD171's site it is out of the main house, station 6.... http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/westchester..._plains_hq.html great looking rig....good luck by the manufacturing date and ALF's fiscal problems it sounds like the delivery was a long time coming....

Between this white-supremacist moron and the pro-life idiot in Kansas that killed the abortion doctor, violent radical quasi-terrorist fundamentalist right-wing groups sure have been experiences some terrible press recently......

Question: You mentioned "mandatory ALS workup"....does that mean that every individual who has had the taser applied to them is evaluated by ALS and treated at an ER or is that just local SOP/SOG? Second: If in fact it is mandatory for ALS workup and ER visit, who foots the bill for the treatment, the government or the individual?

Is an independent authority or agency also going to complete a study like this or is this it? I know there had been other posts about this and I am not sure if this is the study that the town supervisor commissioned.

The economy hurts everyone, those who score high and are qualified and those who do not. Governments are not making an exception if you were #1 or #5,000,000....they are still not hiring.... This man made a series of decisions in his life that prevented him from being a cop before the economy tanked.....and now that it has and he wants this job he missed out.... just like any timeframe or window, once it is closed it is closed. Like JFLYNN said, civil service is made to be as fair as possible.....you cant make one exception here, here and here but not then make those same exceptions for everyone else. If you want 100% job security and fair and equal treatment in getting that job, America is not the place for you.....you my friend would be a socialist..... (this is not directed at anyone)
-
But then again a pack of marlboro reds and a 6 pack of Bud wont do it either.....

What are the specs? Looks good.....good luck with it Where is it housed?

It matters not if he was in the military for one day or for ten years.....the day he turned 21 or 18 I dont know, he could have become a police officer. However, he joined the military instead. Now that he wants to be a police officer, his time spent not trying to be a police officer has caused him not trying to be a police officer. It is really terrible that he has missed his chance but what should I do if I am on that list too, but I did not spend a year too long the military or doing something else instead of trying. Should this guy really get the job because he really wants it and was a veteran but spend a year doing something else when he could have been trying to be a police officer or should I get because I am doing it when I am the right age, at the right time. As I have said before, it really sucks to be him, but this economy is facing everyone. There is no reason to give this guy a preferential treatment when he filed for the test and position about a year to 6 months too late. Timing is everything and before it gets further personal, QTIP....if you wanted a country where everyone had a job and everything was fair, even and equal and this guy would not be getting screwed than I shall call you comrade because you are talking about socialism and communism Mr Marx.
-
My patriotism is not the issue here....I love this country. Excuse maybe was the wrong word. He had more time in his life than just during this economy to become a police officer, he chose to join the military and do other things with his life other than become a police officer. However, now he wants to do it but the economy wont let him. I am sorry for him but again, he had many many other years to do it before right now. He got shut out because he is too old and they wont hire him because they dont have the money, it sucks but it happens. We can not have the rules apply only to some people and not others. If his time in the military exempts him from the age limit that is one thing and more power to him but as I think it stands now, they say he is too old and frankly the laws and exam requirements exist for a reason, not just to make people happy but to make it fair. They are many many many many stories of people being promised jobs that no longer exist thanks to the economy. FDNY, Wall Street Law firms, CNN and countless other places have promised people jobs only to let them know that they cant have them because they will not hire anyone.
-
I have not taken civil service exams nor even had a desire to but the rules regarding application for a job are the rules. You cant bend them for one person and not for everyone else it defeats the logic and purpose behind the rules, requirements and laws of civil service. I feel bad for this guy but if he really wanted to be a cop that badly then he had over 10 years prior to him being too old in order to do so. Being in the military or other career is no excuse unfortunately.
