  2. While I hate the Yankees with a fiery passion that only a real Mets fan could have, after I heard this story my opinion of Joe Girardi has changed. While he is only a hired gun paid only to win (like 95% of all Yankees), the fact that he had a heart, even after winning the greatest achievement in sports, and stops to help that woman, even at the risk of his own life due to the notoriously fast and dangerous traffic in the area speaks volumes as to his character, morals and virtues.
  3. My family once had a house right in that area a few years ago. Rest In Peace

  5. Are the new F-450's replacing existing apparatus or in addition to?
  6. While your '57 Mack would be incredible to see on the streets of PC, I think he is referring to the 1981 Mack CF that was with PCFD but now with the Catskill Fire Cats. picture here: http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/westchester...62_retired.html
  7. When Engine 58 is out of service due to issues like this, what do the career staff do regarding response?
  8. Is Yonkers going to have Water Tender 1 In-Service tonight for the expected water main repairs in Yonkers and Mt. Vernon tonight? Are any other plans in place in of emergency for this event? http://www.lohud.com/article/20091028/NEWS...ressure-tonight

  11. Picture: http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/westchester...e/engine_8.html I have no idea where it is housed, I do not think it is housed in the large apparatus garage.
  12. Link to article: Rumbler I am curious to see this in action in the streets. I wonder if it will have any added benefit to getting around traffic? Anyone actually use the Rumbler and have any reviews?
  13. Agreed.....We were not there....once the investigation is completed and its findings released then we pass judgement and place blame. We do not know all of the facts and details, for all we know one of the rigs could have suffered a catastrophic system failure causing the brakes to go and cause the accident like what happened in Boston (although that was a maintenance or lack there of issue if I remember correctly). All I am trying to say is that we can not and should not place blame until all relevant information is known. Here is a NYTimes article about the crash and operations: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/25/nyregion...ml?ref=nyregion
  14. Now thats a sweet ride.....when is it due back in Pelham Manor?

  18. Cresskill Rescue 1 is an impressive rig....any more pictures or idea who built it?
  19. Here is Melrose's tanker...I always thought it was on Long Island, guess I was wrong. I really is an interesting truck when you get a 360 view of it. http://www.4guysfire.com/melrose.asp
  20. Its a 1 in the Maltese if that helps. It definitely says Ossining on the side and it looks like it says Senate when you zoom in but its hard to tell. Maybe someone with software to clean up blurry images can tell us what it says on the door or the red county plate on the bumper.
  21. No one has been executed in New York since 1963 (Eddie Mays) and the Death Penalty was declared unconstitutional in 2004 (People v. LaValle). That being said, existing research says that it is more cost effective to sentence a prisoner to life without parole for 50 years than it is to hold a man for the death penalty, defend him within his rights and the law, pay for his trial(s) and appeals and then execute him after 25+ years. http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/costs-death-penalty And a huge thank you to the YPD for catching this bastard SOB. I hope they charge him with everything and then throw the book at him once he is convicted.
  22. Rest In Peace....your work here is done My thoughts and wishes for strength to FF Joyce's family as well YFD and Empress
  23. You all may disagree with me but as far as im concerned this civilian did an action that was far above and beyond any that was expected of him. If the civilian had not been there are all of you 100% positive that the situation would have had the same out come? This guy is not a member of the FDNY, he is not trained but what he did is indicative of someone who is willing to make a sacrifce. Would any of you had done the same thing? Smoke pushing, heavy flames above your head, no gear, no training, nothing and yet you still go in. I will call you too a hero if you are willing to do all of that but since most of us including me usually put on my gear, rely on my training and SCBA to enter a building fire and make a save like that I think he deserves a little bit of recognition for his actions.
  24. Does it come in english too?
