  1. According to this article in the NYPost, the EMTs were working as dispatchers, not as first responders apparently http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/brooklyn/mike_rips_emts_in_preg_mom_death_5d0UDQYANcSrLDN4ZnqitI
  2. Nice Video.....very very well done The first part was awe inspiring....
  3. I am looking for a little information and I was wondering if anyone had the information I seek. Where I go to school in Vermont, aeromedical transport is provided by Dartmouth-Hitchcock Advanced Rescue Team (DHART) as the primary, followed by Lifenet or North Country LIFE FLIGHT. I was recently told that DHART was the only aeromedical service without a crash of any sort. I was wondering if anyone had any information on any STAT flight, Lifenet or NYS State Police aeromedical transport crashes as well as the validity of DHARTs claim? Additionally, is there anywhere where I can find out more information about aeromedical transport and its risks. I have looked at STAT flights page and Lifenets page but they did not have much information.
  4. That is not what I am saying....all I am saying is that a college degree will help you significantly more with a lot of things other than just your job.
  5. I am willing to bet 10:1 that drugs played some roll in her death. It happens more often than not that the sudden and untimely death of a celebrity, especially this young, is caused by some form of drug or alcohol abuse. Think Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis....the list goes on and on.
  6. I have that phone and don't get nearly that good photo quality. Nice photos
  7. I do not know so unfortunately I can not answer your questions, I was merely furthering any information that I received via this site and lohud.com. It would appear to me that a member of one of the on scene companies took the photos but again I do not know.
  8. According to LFD171's photo website, the half doors were there pre-refurb. Pre: http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/westchester_county_fire/mamaroneck_village/engine42prerefurb.html Post: http://public.fotki.com/lfd171/westchester_county_fire/mamaroneck_village/engine42.html
  9. The IA states: 2224hrs-VFD E126 now requested to the scene. E126 advising limited personnel. This seems to be Verplank engine 126 advising the IC that they have limited man power for responding to the scene, not that there was limited man power on scene. Unless the civilians knows anything about fire ground operations, I would find it very difficult to accept their belief that there was limited man power. Unless you were there yourself, how would you know. When your in Yonkers and a civilian says you did not have enough manpower there fast enough, what do you say to them, do you accept their version of events, or do you trust you officers or members version of events? I am not trying to start I fight, I am just trying to have a civilized conversation without having to be attacked.
  10. Honestly, I think no one has any comments because they do not know what to say. How do you respond to this type of event in any meaningful manner other than to say hope it never happened or happens again and that we need to learn from past mistakes?
  11. Thats a brush truck? Looks like one of your standard pumper down there if it were not for the more exposed pump in the rear.
  12. Watch the video, it is crazy when you see the perp turn around and start shooting, you can almost see the rounds leave the chamber and hit the hood of the car. It almost looks fake, but sadly it is not.
  13. Just an idea but maybe if you posted the cost per month of each feature you just discussed then made a way so you could donate specifically to one thing, say operating costs. I was just thinking maybe someone likes the site and wants to donate but does not want to provide for an expensive update, but wanted to maintain the site, they could specify the manner in which their donation gets used. Example: member X sees that $250 is needed to run the site for the year, so they donate $25 just to the operation of the site and once all of the operating costs are recouped, then that person could have their donations be specified for other things such as upgrades or the phone line.
  14. Link to article about incident: http://www.lohud.com/article/2009912150371 Lohud photos: http://jukebox.lohud.com/photos/refers/index.php?gallery=Horse%20stuck
  15. Have there been any large animal rescue techniques classes taught in the New York City Metro area recently. The only reason I ask is that about every six months or so there seems to be another situation requiring the rescue and extrication of a large animal from some situation. I know I heard that there was talk of a class in Northern Westchester and Putnam or Dutchess County but I don't know if anything happened. Does the county or state have a protocol for dealing with these situations. It said that 4-5 vets were on scene, how were they notified of the incident and how did they operate within the structure of the incident?
  16. What opinion are you presenting, an ignorant, ill-informed and judging opinion based on nothing but a picture. It should be deleted because we discussed it before and all it did was end it fighting and ignorance. this is a hot button issue that is not going to be solved here. By discussing this here, especially with little to know facts, like in this situation, you are only making a bad situation worse. You are saying is this too far, yada yada yada, but you have no idea what it going on yet you still must criticize. This is grounds for liable and slander if you are wrong, you are defaming the character of this chief and his department without a clue as to what is going on. What we are supposedly discussing is this incident in which you and only you have any idea what is going on, if you do at all. This picture, similar to the one with no waist straps at the working fire can and only will cause problems and tensions that are not needed nor appreciated on this site or in the fire service in general. Your slandering of this department and chief, in my opinion is deplorable and reprehensible, I hope you understand what you are doing.
  17. Because not only are we beating a the skeleton of a dead horse, we are discussing a picture that none of us know anything about other than that it is a picture. Maybe instead of talking about where the car is and what it is doing, we should be talking about how to drive it because I am sure that more chiefs car each year are wreaked in this county than fire apparatus. Its more of a waste to drive the Chiefs SUV into a stonewall or flip it on the highway than it is to drive it to RI to visit the kids. This thread should be locked and deleted, it is pointless.
  18. What is being presented is a consolidation of county departments to reduce the redundancy that exists within the various departments and the county government. I personally know several of the legislators and the people that serve on the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee and trust me when I say I know with out a shred of doubt that they would be under taking this task if they did not feel it was worthy, useful and practical. I fail to see where any problems exist other than the new Public Safety department will have more tasks but not the unneeded positions that make this county the highest taxed in the nation. PS, when people clamor over the fact that we pay the most taxes in the country while true, it is a twisting of facts. We pay the most taxes per person not the highest percent. Think about all of those billions and millions made by those who one land in the northern parts. All of this information is from your lovely elected officials so dont shoot the messenger
  19. This system was discussed here several years ago. I looked for the thread but had zero luck finding it. Maybe one of the admins or mods could find it.
  20. Looks great, appears really well designed and laid out well. When does it go into service?
  21. SVI http://www.svitrucks.com/
  22. Never Forget
  23. Looks great....good luck with the new addition. I like the chevrons on the rear of the bucket, when does it go in to service? What is going to happen to the current Truck 1?
  24. Most New England States use Blue for Police and Red for Fire/Rescue/EMS. That way you know what is coming up on you and how it will potentially act. A fire truck acts very different from a police cruiser obviously.
  25. Its quite obvious to me that when you factor in the police report, the wifes story, tigers story, his lack of talking to the police and the fact that he was leaving at 2:30 AM and his wife smashed his rear-window that this was a domestic disturbance that they want to cover up. However, honestly the White House Party Crashers are far more important and worthy of a story than this news, its only because tiger is such a private person that this is news at all....
