Just like union legislation is drafted to support those who benefit from a union, this legislation is drafted to help those who volunteer. Just because it does not help everyone similarly does not mean it is bad legislation, just means it is used to help different people. If you have a problem with this legislation then you are going have a hissy fit if you ever get into crop subsides and legislation which affects everyone here every damn day, not just if they are at work or not...

Its been up there for quite a while, i think it was also taken down at one point and then relisted...

The answer to this question could be of assistance to all EMTs/medics regarding field termination of CPR. While this incident specifically does not need to be discussed, it could/should be a hardy discussion of field termination and its proper techniques could be of help, informative or interesting to those you want to know. I personally do not care one way or another if the details are released but this incident could serve as nothing more than a case study, if HIPPA is not violated than what is the harm? After all it says at the top of everyones screen: "your knowledge helping others".

Who cares about the money? Honestly, is all that you can say, is that this does not make economic sense. What about the reliable, available, trained and ready EMS services that are now guaranteed to be provided to this district. That is what it is all about, providing the best possible service and saving lives, once those are covered, all other points are moot. Good for Mohegan VAC, I am sure that this was a hard step to take but eventually, everyone from citizens/residents to providers will benefit from this change. I just wish more would realize their shortcomings and take progressive and proactive steps to provide equal, timely, adequate and effective EMS care to their tax payers, residents and citizens.

Fascinating article and study on the density of individuals trained and assisting in CPR during cardiac arrests in relating to neighborhood... http://www.annals.org/content/early/2010/06/01/0003-4819-153-1-201007060-00255.full?aimhp http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/08/health/nutrition/08prog.html?ref=health The implications of this research could save lives in the pre-hospital, pre-first responder setting...

I think you mean 120 gallons of diesel. There is no way that a ship that size had anywhere near 1200 gallons

From what is reported on lohud.com, several local police departments were interested in hiring the laid off police officers...

Check the Ferrara recent deliveries page....look under heavy rescues you will find what you want there -
If it has a designation of squad, the agreement with the county then states that it must be staffed as such. There for you cant have a squad if it is not staffed with 6 firefighters. Its kinda like how you cant have a car without all four tires, well in this case you cant have a squad without the man power. I refuse to speculate on how this is going to be staffed, but I am willing to bet it will be staffed in some way, shape or form with six firefighters. Additionally, departments in this area (seeing as you are not from here currently) can have a squad designation and not use it all of the time. White Plains, New Rochelle, Mt. Vernon, Scarsdale/Eastchester and Greenville/Hartsdale/Fairview all have squad designations but are not staffed as such 24/7. To my knowledge, only squad 11 in Yonkers is staffed with 6 firefighters 24/7, all of the other departments staff their squad with 6 only when the squad is specifically requested.

If you had read the link you posted you would have found that the answer is provided in the document...

Nice Pictures. Great looking apparatus. Any chance of compartment shots or will those be posted once the apparatus are outfitted and placed in service? When can we expect them inservice by if all goes to plan?

7 is the 7th truck that the department owned, 11 is the 11th truck that the department owned...

I will let someone from IFCo give more detail but it is a 1969 American LaFrance that served as Engine 105 until the current Engine 105, a 1989 Pierce was placed in service. http://www.ifco13.com/index.cfm?fs=gallery.gallery&Gallery=Apparatus

If span of control is 2-7 individuals, would it be exceeding span of control if with the 10 men, 1 is designed driver and attends to the rig, 1 is designed IC or lead officer and the remaining 8 them are divided into two different groups of 4 men each, each group with its own senior FF. This way you still maintain span of control, still have an IC, still have an MPO, and now low and behold, you have enough guys for two attack lines or an attack and search line. Divide the teams again into 3 and in the IC, you now have 3 three man teams and you still have an MPO outside the structure, all with ten guys.
-
Not only that but what if they actually do get all 10 seats filled more than half the time? I am not a TFD firefighter and I barely know a few of them but if they can get a good number of the ten seats filled on any given day, 50% of the time is it not worth it? I am sure the IC or officer would much rather have all of his men arrive on a single piece of apparatus and be able to instruct and divide them from their than having them be stuck at the station or having to use a POV to respond. Additionally regardless of the benefits seen in Phoenix, I am also sure most firefighters want a seat with an SCBA built in and I am willing to bet that there is a major difference in the number of seats in the Seagrave that hold SCBAs as compared to the Crimson. However, that is semantics because what we are essentially debating here is a name, and as been discussed here many times, the name counts for sh#t, its the specs and how it performs and operates that counts. I do not have an opinion regarding Tarrytowns situation one way or another, mainly because its not my town, not my money and not my business at all; but all of the Crimson rigs that I have seen have been high quality and have had high reviews.
