The building in the first picture is at Rye DPW. It is the old mechanics garage before an addition. Now it houses garbage trucks, payloaders and salters.

Ladder 31 is going to get retired soon. The new one is getting a few things done at the dealer for delivery. So I think we might get something before the old one goes away. It would be an appropriate way to send the workhorse off. Hopefully if it does happen, it wont be too cold.

I dont remeber it since I was born in the first week of July 1966, but we lived one block away and my parents told me stories about the fire. My mom used to say I came home from the hospital with a bang, and her life would never be the same.

Some became rescues and some utiliies. PCFD Patrol 4 Now Rescue 40, Rye Patrol 3 Now Utility 39. IT all depended what the vehicle carried and used for. Hope this helps.

Has anyone seen the inside of Port Chester Heaquarters lately? The floor was only partialy repaired this past year. The plaster is peeling off the walls. The windows wont stay up by themselves. Instead of replacing an engine that doesnt need to be, maybe the village should put that 500k into repairing Headquarters. Just my 2 Cents.

Seth, the Village of Port Chester used to have one of those large snowblowers. Maybe Eng 58 can let us know if they still have it or not. They cleaned Rt 1 rather nicely.

Seth, I say leave it open. It is a situation where both sides have been guilty and there are lessons to be learned. It is a good "what not to do" to the young members of this site who one day will join a career or volunteer company.
