It doesnt take money from other programs, it saves money by not having to hire firefighters.

Think about it. A tax break on average of $50 per month per volunteer to use his own gas and not get paid to be on call 24hrs a day. Sounds like a great deal for the State of New York. No salaries, no retirement in some instances. Its a small bone for us. I used my $200 last year.

In Port Chester, the paid staff is lucky to still have a large compliment of volunteers. I would say that 99% of the time they dont have to enter a building alone. I drove as the driver (volunteer) to a working structure last week . It was one of the rare instances where I had to wait for the paid engine to arrive on scene. When he did arrive, shortly there after there had to be twenty volunteers also on location. Like I said , the staff is lucky to have a good backing corp that most combo departments dont.

Does anyone recall what she said when she was running for her second term? She lied to us New Yorkers and and stated that she had no intention on running for President and that she was only going to be OUR Senator. She used the State of New York and all of its residents as a stepping stone to Washington. I cant believe that any New Yorker would even think of voting for such a lying blank!

In case anyone is interested, there is the annual airshow at Jones Beach this Saturday and Sunday May 24 and 25 from 10am to 3pm. The F-22 Raptor and the Blue Angels will highlight the show. If you have never been to this show I strongly suggest it. The weather will be great and you dont have to be on the beach, you can stay on the boardwalk if you like.

I saw the cab and chassis there the other day.

Sounds like it was a standard 10 wheel rear packer garbage truck not the boom truck pictured.
