A threat if I ever heard one of a constitutional right of freedom of speech. Careful where we tread brothers.

I can't believe the KOOKS in San Fransisco don't complain that the fire department Kills trees to make their ladders. They make a big stink about everything else.
-
The F word is accepted in fire house culture, so why not here. The chaplin of my department said he looks around if he doesn't hear it dropped in the first five minutes to make sure he is in the firehouse. I believe that if you drop an "occasional" curse, it is acceptable, but constant vulgarity should not be tollerated. Just my 2 cents.

REAL WORLD OPS? Alan real world ops do not apply to these extrication competitions. The city of Stamford had an extrication team in the late 90's that traveled to Mississagua Canada, Nashville TN, our state fire school, and Stamford even hosted a northeast regional qualifying competiton. Are there things that can be learned? Of Course, but not from these "set up" competitions. TERC, Transportation Emergency Response Committe, is the organization who runs these expo's, and they are so far from REAL WORLD OPS it is not even funny. It is geared up to a set of standards that TERC decides, not real world standards. The reason we stopped going to the competitions, is because it wasn't REAL WORLD. We were told flat out by one of the judges at a competition, that we had one of the top scenarios that he had ever judged, and we were a real world team, but this was a last chance qualifier for a team that needed to qualify for the national competition. THAT left a very sour taste with the team, and was decided the next year that we would no longer participate in fantasy competitions, we would just stick to REAL WORLD OPS. Terc has their own ideas of what real world extrication is, and it tends to lean heavily towards the Brightons and Chili's that "PLAY THE GAME". It is not a game, its real. P.S. Idon't know how a BUFF such as you didn't know about our competition. LOL just kidding!!!!

It should be a 1 3/4" line, not the damn booster some still pull. Do they still have booster lines? Maybe that is another topic, BUT the line is pulled to protect the crew working if the STUFF hits the fan. The car fire would be second in priorities, the safety of the crew is TOP priority. My 2 cents.

You can get the steaks and sandwiches as well as some other items at their new store on Bruce Park Ave, just across the street from the Bruce Park Grill. I believe that the Maneros owned the building in Greenwich, just sold due to lack of family involvement. I don't know if the one in Pompano Fla is still opened. That restaurant was opened for all the transplanted snow birds from the northeast. Still one of the greatest restaurants EVER. Steak and onion sangwich with a gorgonzolla salad on the side. Damn now I am hungry. Stay safe all on this joyous 4th of July.

And i suppose you must believe the other propogandist Al Gore with his "sci fi" thriller an inconvienient myth. These left wing nut jobs are trying to scare the world into believing what they say is gospel. Do you believe 9-11 was a production of our government? Another crap story from the far left kooks. And to advertise the banner on this website is in poor taste. I thought this website dealt with real fire fighting and EMS topics, not spun to the left propoganda from a proverbial liar in that fat a@@ hole Michael Moore. Pleae lets stick with relevant topics. I have been a fan of these forums, but if this continues........

iF IT WAS MY FAMILY IN THE CAR ECHY, i KNOW HELP WOULD BE NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES BEHIND ME IF I CALL IT IN LIKE I SHOULD. AND JUST FOR THE RECORD "I DONT TOOT ANY HORNS". aND cHRIS, WHILE I RESPECT YOUR OPINION, WHY CANT THE BACKFILLING BE DONE ON THE MVA? i AGREE THIS IS GOING IN CIRLES AND CIRCLES, AND JUST BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD RESPOND TO WHAT YOU ARE DISPATCHED TO, RELAY THE INFORMATION TO DISPATCH, AND THEY WILL FILL THE CALL FOR THE MVA. tHATS IT, IM DONE....... NEXT TOPIC PLEASE
-
RWC call your lawyer back and ask him if he will represent you because you stopped and three firefighters were killed because water supply engine never showed up! Once you are assigned, you are assigned. I don't care if you are going to an alarm that comes in three times a day and is always a false call. It will only take that one time when we get complacent. I remember as a rookie always getting calls at an old folks home, that never proved to be anything. Then one day, IT happened. A major fire that killed a few elderly residents. I am sure there were many riding to that call that said" SAME OLD S*. You never know what is waiting for you, so you must follow the organizational flow chart that is sending you on the fire, and call in the car accident, and give it to the next due units. Its crappy, but what if you are the reason for hurting or killing your brothers because you thought the other call was "MORE IMPORTANT".
-
I will try this one more time. If you are responding to an incident, you ARE ALREADY ASSIGNED to that incident. Your first duty is to the incident in which you are responding. It would be negligent to deviate from that assignment. It would be your responsibility to notify dispatch, and have them fill out the assignment for the MVA.
-
then you would also be negligent for discontinuing to the call you were originally dispatched to. It is a catch 22. As I said, call it in to dispatch, there should be units available to handle the MVA
-
You are en route to a structure fire, or any other call, you are assigned to the incident. By stopping and taking yourself off that call could be endangering the victims that you are going to help. Suppose you are going to an automatic alarm, and you are second due, you come across an accident with extrication, you stop and work the extrication, and the automatic alarm turns into a multiple alarm fire because the second due engine, (water supply), never showed up. And God forbid anyone gets hurt or dies, how would you feel knowing you were going as second due for a reason,(water supply). I would feel pretty crappy. Assignments and run cards are made up for a reason. Its crappy passing an accident that you are sure you could make a difference at, but help should only be a few minutes behind you. You should always go to what you are assigned to. Period.
-
Are you saying there is only one machine with an extrication tool in the county. You respond to the call you were dispatched to, notify dispatch of an accident with extrication, and they will fill out an assignment for that call. Self dispatching is becoming a problem by fire and EMS alike. I am currently assigned to dispatch, and it is a real pain in the A@@ trying to reassign units while you have a working incident going on. There are plenty of resources, do what you are told and stop buffing.
