I will leave the rumors in the rumor mill. Starting a fictitious scenario of how things will play out is pointless and downright irresponsible. The Chief has the ultimate power to make the decision he feels is best for the citizens of Stamford, not the Fire Dept,, career or volunteer, or the union. This is about fire protection. Period.
-
That would be the Chief's decision. Anything else is purely speculation.

Fire Plan tabled by Board of Reps. More information, that has been requested for years now, still not provided by Mayor. http://www.stamforda...ons-3445618.php

Who would be entitled to these perks? All volunteers active or inactive? Associate members and Veteran members? The volunteer departments in Stamford have done a good job bolstering their rosters by adding veteran members who have not seen the inside of that firehouse in a long time. Wives, daughters, and girfriends have also been added as associate members to these rosters. Do they qualify too? Which brings me to a question, what constitutes and active volunteer? Is there a certain number of calls that must be answered per month or quarter? Is there a certain amount of company training that needs to be completed per month or quarter? Looking at the rosters of the volunteer departments, There would be a lot of Paid members that would be entitled to DOUBLE DIP on benefits from the city. What's to stop anyone from joining the department just for the perks? And I do agree with the previous poster who stated if you are in it for the perks, you are in it for the wrong reason.

Now I am being denied access to forums as well as IA's. And to top it all off I cannot send a message to a moderator or admin, because it says my email is not on a recognized list. Would resetting my account change anything?

He is under review, this I know, but if his sources are questionable, remove his posting privledges

Can we make it that all IA's can be read by all members. I keep getting a stinking error message when a certain individual posts in the IA section. And He posts everything that happens in the region within minutes of the alarm, so I cant find out what's happening unless I go to another site.

And, while I am aware of the situation in TOR, that's not germane to the discussion I am having with you here, most specifically in your labelling the BFD and the residents of it's district as freeloaders. The Germans got nothin to do with it. Sorry Pat I couldn't resist a Smokey and the Bandit reply. LMAO

In order for the QUINT system to work, they must be properly staffed with 5-6 FF per rig, so that multiple tasks can be completed by a crew. I don't see that happening in Stamford.

Stamford Fire Rescue Department: 10,876 calls for 2010

You can also rest assured Rexy, I have no illusions about being considered for any of the jobs which may emerge with this new FD, let alone a top one. Cogs You may want to check back a few pages Cogs. Remember when you were beaten to a pulp by the people commenting on this board about you taking the paid position in the New SVFD at the expense of a union member. WELL WHICH IS IT?
