Wish it was that easy. Our last greater alarm fire took two 2.5 WFDs with it with damage to a third. Started by squatters, who were luckey to leave before anyone got there.

when I became a volunteer in 1985 with had John Bean Hi pressure lines for fire attacks, three quarter boots.....one guy had bunker pants and he was considered "weird". No portable radios. No ladder company work, even though we has a snorkel, roof ventilation was done after the fire was out. back step riding...which was fun on a short wheel base midi pumper at 70 mph on the highway. Dual 3 inch lines from the hydrant. Officers worn Scott sling packs...firefighters worn Scott IIAs. No RIT/FASt teams. seatbelts....on a fire engine? Manual transmission with gas engines.

Yes I know that Penn Station is under MSG. I wasn't under the impresion that MTA PD was sneaking into Ranger/Knick games. LIRR is a MTA operation and I would suspect that is who they are dealing with at Penn. Aforementioned ESU ERP outside Penn Station....
-
I would have to assume there is more then one on patrol at any given moment. I typically see MTA ESU outside MSG. That would be a heck of a response otherwise.

yes FDR does stand for the Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive. The road is elevated in certain areas and IIRC the weight of a full size engine might have compromised the road surface, hence the smaller unit.

Do you KNOW the answer?

Unless you are a fan of the Bills then you don't have a hometown team. The Giants and Jets are based in, and play in New Jersey. On behalf on the overburden taxpayers of NJ we would like to thank NYC for picking up the tab for the ticker tape parade yesterday.
-
Has this been funded by the PA? They took a big hit in the NYC press yesterday for being a "disfuntional" agency.

My guess. An American Lafrance city service ladder truck, 1942

The boat was cross staffed with a land based engine company and the boat was bought with Homeland Security fund so I doubt they can really shutdown the boat although I've heard they (=Homeland Security) are not really impressed with the amount of time the boat see any action. JCPD ESU has a big RHI the does see much action either. NYPD Harbor is the typical responder in JC waters.

Could be a new company or a new division of an exisiting company. Might be one of those after life units like FDNY has to address organ donations.
-
I don't think you will find a good standard. A busy FDNY company will certainly last shorter than 10 years while 10 years in a small volunteer company might last years. A particularly high exposure in a slow volunteer company might place the gear out of service. Certainly next technology might render a 5 year old set of turnouts due for replacement.

I beleive this was the Manchester First Aid Squad in Ocean County NJ. It would appear to be sporting the same colors. I have a vage memory of this vehicle operating under their banner. Haven't been able to find a photograph of said vehicle yet.

Watershed moment within the NYPD. I remeber there was a TV movie that came out when I was 12 years old entitled "Foster and Laurie" I was too young to remember the actually incident but cried like a baby when I saw the movie.

Helicopper beat me to it, how does an adovcacy group (FASNY) recongize/certify/whatever a fire department? The FASNY doesn't even list the FDNY.

Don't know how the GS act is written in NY State but the GS Act does not really cover official responders or responders (official or not) with emergency training. The original entent of the GS Act was to cover non-trained personel from the potential suits that would result in their intervention. For example a person fall down a flight of stairs at a train station. A person, acting in good faith does something that cuases further harm, lets say put a pillow under someone's head with a resulting cervical injury one could not cause hold the passer by liable for damages. On the other hand a passer by who is a State certified EMT does the same thing the EMT could be held liable because his training should have lead him in the right direction.

I don’t have great insight as to how the volunteers work with FDNY. The Richmond Engine Company on SI seems to work well with FDNY. Apparently they are the only volunteer company with permission to communicate on the FDNY radio system and I think they are listed on run cards (CAD) for their area. With the exception of Aviation I rarely see or hear much about the volunteers. Broad Channel had some issues a couple of years ago but they did not involve emergency response operations. Most of the companies seem to have fairly decent equipment that is tailored to their areas. I can’t imagine the volume of responses they volunteer companies have is a serious threat to the FDNY. It sounds to me that Aviation does not play by the rules of the incident management system. Maybe the perceived lack of training is evident by the behavior at emergency incidents. I regular seen Richmond Engine guys at classes here in Middlesex County, NJ. They are only about 15 minutes away from our academy.

Just guessing here but perhaps Bristol hired Champion to operate or managed their EMS but doing business as Bristol Hospital EMS. Stranger things have happened.

They use to have (might still have it) an old Mack pumper retired from FDNY, a 1981 Mack CF and they has (have) a 1978 Oshkosh P4A ARFF. http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/specialunits/corr.htm

Boy is that a slap in the face to every volunteer firefighter in New York State. Although I;m not sure if I was a officer on a engine or truck if I would be very secure in facing some of the hazards present in NYC. How many people are familar with the NY Subway system? Firefighting on bridges and tunnels, H style apartment buildings, taxpayers, hi rises, etc
