Great posts,The bottom line is for the volunteer fire service to survive ,consolidation is the only way to go,especially in Westchester, the numbers are dwindling and mutual aid has become more common due to lack of response.It is time for the County and the Fire service to plan for thefuture

OK! Was it emt'S OR MEDICS??? Ifit was the latter ,then then they have a problem,without definitive EKG changes orsupporting physical results ,this should have ben treated,conservativly as a possible AMI.Standard of care being ,Monitor, IV acess,ASA,O2,pallaitave pain relief,etc

Having seen Greenwich EMS in person ,they are so leading edge as far as life safety and technology that a lot of EMS should come and check out thier systems

What from "spin" has posted I think he has proposed the best of both worlds for the Stamford problem. It comes down to go alone and perish or go together and survive. The guy is from LongIsland which has a strong Vollie base, but recognizes the fact that it is getting tougher to cover all the calls with the day to day responsibilities of family/work/membership

Ya Gotta blame the Chief for that one,we wrote specs for what was supposedly a Seagrave, funny how it turned into that POS that we had to live with. The thing should have been a garbage truck vs a front line Engine. It lost steering over 40 mph and could'nt stop on a down hill. I for one went sideways down hill on a rainy day at 35 mph and damn near pooped my turnouts!!!

Having spent half a lifetime as both a Medic and an RN in an ER I would agree that Mondays are probably the worst day for cardiac emergencys ,bothpre hospital and walk ins c/o "chest discomfort " or similar symptoms.

I agree with gamewell get the local/county health people involved also have the Local file a grievance about sanitary conditions in the stations. The other option is have the Mayor and council spend sometime in the station and perhaps hae a meal with the troops while mice are sharing it with them

You can revoke all the licenses in the world but some folks will just keep on driving,drunk or sober, until they get caught .Ther are more reports of arrest for supended or non licencesed in the local news than ever

I quit about 10 years ago after what seems like a lifetime of smoking, both on and off the job, had an aluminum case in my turnout coat to keep my cigs dry so I could lite up when things got under control. All you have to do is read ALL the research on the down side of smoking or chewing and it can scare the s*** out of you! Economics and all anyone ,FF,EMS or PD, needs to quit fooling themselves IT IS A BAD HABIT!!! And if you thik about it, do you really enjoy it?
