New York City or any out of Westchester County residents, NEED NOT APPLY!!!

Where is that firehouse located? It has no identifying marks on it. I thought it looked like that closed W.P.F.D. station off of Central Ave. (Rte. 100).....

Young, single men/women, with no kids, and most often the junior men, usually volunteer to work the holidays or are told they should. New Year's Eve is an expected payback if working that night. BTW, working XMas day.

Safe Driving, Turn-out Coats, Helmets and SCBAs...........optional!

It's an '88 mack TL spare which has and will be there for a while.....next time, stop in and say hello............we may be the dog house but no one bites!!!!

Simply put........I liked the old one better. Although I am a big fan of nice graphics and all, it's a little confusing......Maybe I'll get used to it, but for now, I like the old better.

As someone who works with this idiot, I can attest: He is an A-Hole! This is great for the firehouse to get rid of this guy.

My point: Pictures don't always tell the truth.... Learn the facts, then judge. We do it all the time when checking out "buff photographs". We know we must get our facts straight before we judge guy's actions based on those photographs. Why not the same when we see guys doing something we may not approve of, like drinking in uniform? It may look bad, and I am not defending anyone here, but just be a MAN or WOMAN and become responsible for yourself and your actions. Then we can all go out and have a good time, in uniform or not....

Here is what I would have wrote: 9/12/06 - (Westchester County, NY) Many local Westchester County Fire Departments paid tribute to victims of 9/11/06 yesterday. Here, local firefighters enjoy a toast to their 343 fallen brothers in the F.D.N.Y., and the other 2,654 people who perished on the anniversary of the devasting events of 9/11/01. Here is what many think the paper will/can write: 9/15/06 - (Westchester County, NY) Firefighters take the edge off after local business burns to the ground....

Bad point about a doctor in a lab coat drinking in a bar. You don't see firefighters in Bunker Gear drinking in a bar!!! (I hope). Doctors don't attend social gatherings for their occupation and its members in white lab coats with stethescopes. They attend in a suit and tie, at venues that most firefighters don't or have never attended. Remember firefighters aren't attending these gatherings in their work-duty uniforms. Firefighters attend their social gatherings in Class A uniform as a sense of pride in their department or occupation. These members in atttendance should not be confused with members, ACTUALLY ON-DUTY and WORKING. Due to their middle class lifestyle, and the price per person, these events are often held in Bars or Bar/Resturants where those who are enjoying a good time often end up at the bar, not wanting to leave. If you don't misbehave, by fighting, DWI, vomiting or urinating on yourself, then I say, have a good time and "Drink Up!"

......."nothing big was going on 154.290".... If that is what you were listening to, it's because you had the wrong frequency on the scanner! It's actually 154.190, but I am thinking it is just a typo....

Does it say FDNY on the rear cab door of Engine 126's rig?? I would assume if it does, it has something to do with 9/11. Anyone have any info on this?

No volunteers? That's when you HAVE TO hire PAID FFs....I am all for Volunteer FFs, you guys are great, but.........It's a double-edged sword. No vollies show up, what choice do they have? I guess they can pay neighboring towns to cover them, you guys would know better than me, but it seems to me that they would have to hire paid guys. No? The thing is they know that we will ALWAYS do the right thing, (volunteer and show up). Therefore, from a union (paid) standpoint, we are our own worst enemies.......and I mean that in a very LOVING way.....Don't write bad things about me............LOL! What is the answer?

WOW! Lucky guys. I would assume fire came up open, unenclosed interior stairs. We should learn one thing. When guys become trapped and you want to prevent room from "lighting up" and endangering guys, get a 2 1/2" line with a straight stream going into that window. That pathetic fog stream is all but useless, unless they were worried about hitting someone in the face with it. In which case they could reposition to avoid that. I am extremely glad these guys were not killed and all seems to have ended with some minor injuries. However, there are better alternatives, that's all.

i agree.......i won but my eyes are KILLING ME!!!!

Any boat fire is a foam operation. Have foam units dispatched upon receipt of alarm, as it is a long process to get into operation.

"survey says, he's dead. that really had to suck"...............................O WELL...

I'll bet that chief, his and my pension that I have been to more first due fires than his entire department has in it's entire history....and then one time I got burned was my own dumb mistake. I grabbed something hot and wasn't aware it had been in the fire apt. and didn't have gloves on. What a total jackass.......I'll take him to work with me, then when he soils his pants, I'll tell him the real truth. You've never been to a real fire until you've crapped your pants....

FDNY SCHEDULE IS: 2 days 9am x 6am then off 48 hrs.... then 2 6pm x 9am tours followed by 72 hrs off..... There is a group chart of 25 FFs and each FF is assigned a number from 1-25. The 24 hour shifts come about like this..... The person who is either 11, 12, or 13 numbers away from you will be doing the 2 9x6s when you are doing the 6x9s and vice versa....You each work a tour for each other and you have a 24. i.e. I am in Group 4, working Monday 9x6 and Tuesday 9x6 then my partner in group 16 is working Sunday 6x9 and Monday 6x9......I work his Monday 9x6 and he works my Monday 6x9....I work 24 hours Sun 6x9 and Monday 9x6...he works 24 hours Monday 6x9 and Tuesday 9x6............That is the simplest way to explain it......However there are other slighy modifications that may take place.

He was in Billy Madison.........Billy (Adam Sandler) called him to apologize for being mean to him in H.S. Then, after accepting Billy's apology, he puts on lipstick and crosses Billy's name off the list of "people to KILL".......while ELO's "Telephone Line" plays in the background.......

F009JOH, As they say......"you have drank the Kool-Aid"....welcome to the world of firefighters who work for a LIVING!!! Go work for free where there are no paid FFs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
