From the looks of it sounds like a good cost saving move and the truck appears to be in great shape, as long as it is safe and can do the job stick with it.

Thanks that is some cool information, any idea who would use the signals outside of the train while it was in operation? I can see the conductor while on the platform but the need for it while moving?

Can anyone here give a good explination as to what the lights on the side of the Metro North railroad cars signify? The CT line has way less than the newer NY line cars. The colors I have seen are White,Blue,Green, Yellow and Red. They are at the ends of each car and above the doors. Thanks for any help, I am just interested to find out.

In Port Chester on E-60 we carry since there are so many co-ops in our district, 4 50' lengths of 2 1/2 with a smooth bore, and in the standpipe bag, flashlight, F tool, few assorted adapters incase, inline pressure gauge as well as a couple of door chocks. Other Engines in town are similiarly equipped.

Also all of the CT feeder lines into the New Haven line require diesels, no overheads or 3rd.

Good luck and the best to all of them!

All over the city of Bridgeport old firehouses can be found. Two of the most notable are Engine 14 now a Police Precinct and the Fmr Quarters of E7 L11 on Fairfield Ave, now a boxing gym. Also in the E3/E4 area off wood ave another abandoned firehouse can be found. Also Bpt. is in the works of building a new Firestation for E10 L10 on Boston Ave, their current firehouse on Putnam St. is worth driving past to get a view of some great old architecture still being used today.

I was thinking the same thing about the rigs. Interesting...

Take a look at this link on pierce's website a few firefighters are standing around on the 2nd or 3rd page, right side (depending how you look at it), one has Harrison on their back with a 12 on the back of the helmet, the other recognizable one has TMFD to the left of the Harrison guy. Could these be westchester firefighters? http://www.piercemfg.com/pdfs/Pierce_Velocity_brochure.pdf

Make a list of all cards and such you carry normally with pertinent info on them, incase of something like that, it is a lot easier to cancel the cards when you remember which ones you have !

After being over heated, they turn opauqe colors and perhaps maybe wavy. Should have it inspected.

I have also found that the higher up you go maybe on the first or second floor of a building compared to outside in the street or on the ground, the better it is to hear apparatus on your pager as the radio waves have an easier time traveling as well as less physical objects between you and the unit talking.

Hah, I was thinking the same thing.

Just a little satire, its a tv commercial after all, not the real thing.

Stratfield Fd has our own cookbook as well, paperback, has about 50 recipes in it.

Firestore.com has a great array of decenders but if your looking for someplace close, check out any Eastern Mountain Sport store or anywhere they may sell climbing/rappeling gear.

Down in PC I know they just recently added a pop up arrow board to U65. Almost every engine in the Village is equipped with arrow sticks or some type of device on the back.

Use flitz aluminum polish with the mothers powerball, after cleaning and drying the diamond plate. Then wipe clean and go over with a regular clean car buffer, preferably a fuzzy one not the smooth kind. Comes out like a mirror finish with minimal effort i have found.

Try Mid-Hudson Communication. They serviced all our pagers in the past I believe. I also heard from Motorola Reps that parts for the 2's have been discontinued... anyone know if theres any truth to that?
