he has a right to complain it is his livelihood afterall, but someone more tasteful would have asked the "boot drivers" to move first before calling the pd. I dont think its a reason to not go there who knows?

As with any disaster, until it happens we dont know if well be prepared to handle it. The more these reports come out about who trained with who doing what, making people feel safer, I believe we will never know if we are prepared until it actually happens. No matter how hard we train, come up with plans and hope the worst doesnt come, we dont know if we are prepared or are not. What people should focus on is adaptability to over come problems not "specific what if this happend problems." Just my 2 cents.

Bridgeport FD in CT runs Engine 16, on Madison ave, which is a 105' Pierce quint I do believe.

Tough decision the cheif had to make sticking his neck out for his firefighters, if he cant gurantee their safety he is making the right call. Once again IF the situation is in fact true it is utterly ridculous and the union members involved should be terminated. Union or non any, discrepency that leads to threats or even the possiblity of not helping your fellow firefighter in the line of duty deserves the utmost severeity of punishment and should not be tolerated.

Training our new members in my vol. dept in CT, we ask them to set up the tools just as they would be used at an incident, so for instance air tools would be getting the devices, scott bottle, and hooking them all up. Same for airbags, hurst equipment, and electrical appliance we carry on board for lighting ect... Its not just find this ok; good. It is find this set it up so you can USE it.

PCFD uses village dpw garage for routine work, then usually farms out larger tickets to ruscon. In fairfield all work is done in house at the fd maintenance garage, for all units except southport fd's squad.

What is FEMA doing to the towns cities etc these workers are being pulled from where their expertese in life saving is now NOT being utilized? My opinion it is ridculous to send firefighters and ems down there to do paper work, they would be more beneficial to Help people not sort out and begin a long process wound in red tape. Send them where they can help people, being home or to the disaster area, never mind paper work.

An awesome place to try is Southport Brewing Co. (SBC) in Norwalk's downtown area, and Southport(Fairfield) CT on Route 1(Exit 19 I-95, right onto route 1). They have all different varieties of their own beer as well as the usuals. Food is good but a little expensive. Def worth a try.

Rye brook does not have a cheif as the PCFD cheif presides over them. As for officers I think they may however I am uncertain. Hope that clears up one end.

Thanks I had the feeling it was some sort of health facility due to the number of fire and ems calls that go on there.

Dairy Queen is a good stop if you can find one. Up in Fairfield there are 2 ice cream places that are also pretty good called Sunny Daes, one on black rock tpke not far from the merritt exit 44, and one on rte 1 not far from exit 22 on 95. Also hear that a cold stone is also coming to the black rock tpke area.

just like you said, very specialized in what it can be used for, seems like everything it is good at ties into destruction! That is sort of the opposite of what we do isnt it? Granted there are some situations where that is necessary awesome idea anyway, marketable on a large scale perhaps not... yet.

The firehouse deli in fairfield was in fact their old station one, it is on reef rd just off of the post road. Food is great just can be a little on the pricey side sometimes. As for the firehouse deli in Byram, its right across from Greenwich's Byram firehouse on Mill street. Huge sandwiches, frequented very often by many of us here in PC. A must try. While on the topic of deli's anyone in fairfield, norwalk or new canaan check out A&S italian fine foods. Great food and sandwiches at very reasonable prices. Also do catering.
