Is there a way to seperate them by Westchester/ Local/ National just to make it a little easier to read?

I am sick of hearing all these negative things about volunteer departments, they always find a way to twist the facts or only show the facts that cna hurt, never is it saying as this article puts it 141 firemen/women who wake up middle of the night to answer a call for help. Instead of writing negativly about it why dont these authors do more to help and write articles to persuade people or at least open their eyes to volunteering.

Fairfield CT has opticoms at almost all intersetions and transmitters on every rig. It does cut down the confusion at intersections to say the least, by giving the oncoming emergency vehicle the right of way. However it is not a god send and you must still use caution as people may not be paying close enough attention to see the oncomnig light that just turned green for them cycle back to red due to the oncoming rig. Plus it should be hooked up to a parking brake or park position as to turn off when you stop the car to not affect the lights further.

How did the system of fire department numberings start in Westchester County? By number i mean our 3 digit number such as PC 239. Anyone have any background or info how these numbers came about?

Looks like that situation went from cold to hot.

I was wondering if anyone here especially those who work at 60 control know of any problems with nextel and their 1 way messaging service. To elaborate; i have always had 1 way sms messaging and I do receive i-page from county control. Once i was knocked off the list due to another members phone being cancelled. This time however I havent been recieving pages in about a week or so. I called nextel and they had me do a master re set and that is where i stand thus far. Just wondering if any one has anything to say about this or opinions that may be helpful. Also I can recieve pages from Info Rad program however i can not get them from nextels website, which as everyone at nextel says shouldnt be. Thanks for any input.

Ill check for a service update too, thanks I have done that in the past before with different model phones, if nothing it usually improved reception.

Stratfield FD R15, Fairfield CT carries a full compliment of hurst extrication equipment: 2 Spreaders, combi, cutter, 3 rams as well as a portable lukas small c shaped cutter. Love all of them.

I know there may be some confusion to as to this post on my behalf, and for that i must apologize. I am more interested to see if anyone here has had similar problems with nextel by means of text messaging, voicemail and not reciving them or anything of the sort, not just 60's i page which im sure is working just fine.

I would like to commend the BHFD for their website. It is one of the cleanest/ modern looking of many sites I have seen. Their webmaster does an excellent job. My hats off to them! Im sure its been posted before but heres what im talking about. http://www.bedfordhillsfd.org/content/history/

Yes those are the numbers i was referring to.... the 3 digit department numbers. 239, 242, 224, 221, 253, 204 ect....
-
Yes, I saw that but i was wondering where they started the numbers at. Is it a statewide system handed to westchester county at 200, or did they just start there. Should be interesting to see.

If you look at the department list it is alphabetical however where do the numbers stem from? Here are the battallion zones with dept #'s. http://www.westchestergov.com/emergserv/fire.htm

OK since master-re setting, I am now able to recieve messages from nextel's site however I still do not know about county control. I do also now have a globe in my screen however can not send text or use the internet.

At HQ in PC we had 3 installed in the main area and 1 installed in R40's bay. My opinion is they work great. They are relativly quiet and dont have stupid hoses coming down off of them. The only problem i forsee with them in the future is getting the filters changed, as they have 24lbs of filters in them the rep told me that trap: HEPA, CO and other particles . But it sure beats having to hook up hoses to the rigs especially since all rigs are different at this point. Also for us manuevering aroudn the firehouse is often done and these allow us somewhat to do that. They turn on automatically when the door goes up or down, by button, and an infra red sensor across the bay doors as well(up high enough so only a truck can set them off not a person) at HQ, the rep said there were other devices that can be hooked up too. I myself already noticed a change in the quality of air in the place after only a month or so of use. Hope this helps.

Also we were told emergency response guides are now available on almost all manufactureres websites for specific vehicles. Great tool to have in your command car or other front line piece for reference.

They were putting out a fire ;o)! so it was a fire related activity.
-
If you notice at the begining of each episode there is a disclaimer saying some of the scenes are re-enacted for safety purposes. This could explain why the helmet cam pictures are always crystal clear and there is mysteriously no smoke in a fire room? Who knows....

I was just at a seminar with reps from both honda and ford, both stated that when the 12v battery/supply is cut on their cars it shuts down the relay to the high voltage battery system thus making it inoperable and the only way shock was possible is if the battery itself was punctured. These systems also shut down after airbag deployment in most cases as well. Besides the special parts for the hybrids they later went on to tell us to procede as usual. Good thing to keep in mind.

If they are untrue, they should have been placed on admin. leave until and investigation was done.
