Ive sat in the waiting room of a few hospitals with friends from painful back injuries to cut off fingers, and i have noticed that people who come in for minor reasons by ems do get treated quicker. Quicker at least by getting them into the er and not waiting for 5 hours in the waiting room. If the cost for an ambulance wasnt so high around here we would have called...

Being im in an engine co. we have our probies train extensivly on where our tools are as well as doing outside tasks ie hitting hydrants. On my rescue we have probies do the same but start learning how to use and maintain all the tools on the rig as that is just as important as fire 1.

Sadly this past Sunday "Moose" collapsed while on his winter vacation in FL. He is currently on life support and was declared to have no brain activity, at a FL hospital. I thought it would be appropriate to mention this/him because he has been mentioned before on this site in Street Eats. For those that knew Moose, he was famous for his hotdogs which he sold on the corner near Cottage St and Midland Ave in Port Chester for decades. Before that he was also a court stenographer. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family and close friends.

As long as theres an air monitor going on no need to set time limits, as you can chage off air when needed or back on when needed all according to readings.

I carry a gerber tool and a window punch, haven't needed anything else yet. Since this post mentions other things too, I also carry an extra set of flex goggles in the coat, non-latex exam gloves for bsi precautions as well as 20 feet of rescue webbing rolled up in pants pocket in case you need some extra leverage to make a rescue. For flashlights i keep a junky garrity light on the helmet and a survivor light on the chest of the coat.

Up in CT if this applies the class goes for 148 hours I believe. I was luck and took an accelerated class and got it done in 2 months plus the time it took to get the test completed.

I tried to post earlier in the week a question about why there are so many non appearing symbols on the site and theyre replaced with an X? I thought it was my computer at first but then realized it wasn't just mine. Any word for the curious? Thanks.

I just changed skins, everything is working with the different skin. Thanks for the advice Seth.

I'm sure this is taken out of context if it isn't I'd question why this person is a Cheif...

It is an x, like an image didnt load properly, hence the reason i cant see any buttons or the like on the website. I right clicked and hit show image but that was to no avail. Thanks for the help.

the x is where a picture or symbol should be. I have used 3 computers since this first happend all with different providers and the same thing happened. Anyway to change the settings somehow?

Keeping the SCBA's mounted in the cab saves very valuable compartment space. My rig carries 8 SCBA's and we keep 4 in the cab, 4 in a compartment, I can just imagine trying to find some where else to keep those four with all the other equipment we carry. In a perfect world we'd have all the space we'd need to neatly organize our units but keeping them in the cab frees up one more compartment maybe two.

Does anyone know what the control channel would be for the lower county area, i.e. Port Chester, Rye, Rye Brook Mamaroneck?

Ifyou have access to a computer a look up of the street can literally take less than 30 seconds to find and print, unless you have a map handy. Big maps with easily readable letters is what we currently use on a grid system. Ive never really seen a light up board that shows you what street. Good luck in your quest.

Good luck to the hard working brothers in the fire patrol. Hope they get the best out of this. A good friend of mine has a few family members in the patrol and it hits close to home. Once again hopefully the greedy insurance giants will rethink this, or can find some viable alternative to closing.

I started it just as a quick idea/hobby to waste some time, but i quickly saw how many people had good sincere interest and someone could easily use it with mal intent. Since it is your website I have to abide by taking it down just due to the factor of the unkown... who will use it for what.
