I was also thinking maybe if everyone who helped out brought a patch or something, so the family could always know they have friends where ever they look especially around westchester cty.... just an idea.
-
Just watched news 12, got the address from that. Is it ok if we just show up to help out? Should we bring anything along to help tools ect?
-
Can anyone post an address up ?
-
My thoughts exactly... someone please get in touch if they need any sort of help.
-
By the way if they need any help with that Im sure we can muster up a crew to lend a hand. Someone get in touch if they need anything!

Stratfield Vol. FD, in Fairfield. It would be a lot easier if we were funded by the town but were independant of Fairfield FD.

This is some of the best news put on this site in a long time congratulations.

A lot of the towns in CT have them, I think the state installed them on all state roads with traffic signals. I thought there had to be some sort of way to verify your use for it. Guess not...

Does anyone know of a good way or pitch to either get a new vehicle donated or perhaps a decent used one. My small FD here in Fairfield has been looking into geting a used 4 door pickup or suburban to use as a Cheif or officer vehicle as well as take people to and from classes ect, and as a general utility... any ideas how to go about it? Keep in mind our yearly budget expenses are less than 20k, we are a tax exempt organization and buying a vehicle is almost out of the question considering we are trying to replace our 19 year old heavy rescue now.

Heard a few depts get toned out today for brush fires both in WC and FFld Counties.... gues they werent kidding.
-
The situation you described above also happens with Fairfield FD and Jericho FD Long Island. We have the same frequencies and with a scanner if your near the beach often can hear both. But due to programming of what im assuming to be differentd PLs and repeater set ups with the portable radios and vehicle radios the signals do not cross.

Hey all, Just found this article. I didn't think it was possible to get one of these opticoms but looks like it is. here is the link: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/a...nId=46&id=48803

Engine compartment, like someone said about the rear trunk, go right thru the headlight assemblies with a halligan, makes a nice hole and usually gives decent access to allow a nozzle right in there.

In Fairfield, car fires on I95 warrant a Single Engine and Rescue 1, Squad 14 also if in Southport. For an MVA it could be an Engine, Rescue 1 and/or Ladder 2. For the Merritt Parkway an Engine, Ladder 2 and Rescue 15 are assigned for MVA's. Just an Engine and Rescue 15 (at night) for a car fire. If the MVA in either location is serious enough the extra rescue is called in. As for personal vehicles no one has theirs as the units are staffed with firefighters, career or volunteer.

Can you put a blue light on a motorcycle? I dont see why not...??

Like you said you either love them or hate them, I hate them. They look dangerous, what if someone were to go near one of them babies while spinning...?

Bacon, Sausage, Cheese with black pepper on a fresh hard roll from Country Cow Black Rock Turnpike in Fairfield has held me over many a time. Also Dutchess restaurants around Fairfield County make bfast sandwiches all day!

The Sutphen Imperial front looks good with the Escalade headlights, just needs some tints and spinners, or those euro glow underbody lights.

Won't really know until I see one that is painted red with Fire Dept. written all over it, that will be the final say for me. They seem pretty nice...

One thing cool about the 5's is that it does have a battery meter on the top, shows the batt status every time the reset is pressed. The crappy thing is that it has a special cell phone like battery not the AAA's like the 3 and 4. One other cool feature i noticed is viberate and beep at the same time. The new 5 seems pretty durable and is about the same size as a 4, just a bit thicker. Only time will tell how it really compares, theyre pretty new.

Speaking of the lack of enough foam: The State of CT also has a foam trailer program. Set up by region, with foam trailers strategically placed, are used to respond to larger scale incidents requiring a lot of foam. ie like when the tanker burned and melted I95 in Bridgeport. Here is the link incase anyone is interested: http://www.ct.gov/cfpc/lib/cfpc/mobile_foam_trailer.pdf
