So from what I'm reading there are people saying that the vehicles should be marked with colored lettering etc. What about Fire commissioners, Chief of Dept's, Staff Chief's, etc.??? I'm pretty sure there are a few Dept's that have high ranking staff that drive unmarked cars and respond.

Anyone having a problem getting the mobile KED281.com site to work on a Driod 2?? It worked fine on my Blackberry Tour now it doesn't seem to like to Driod 2.
-
I'm using that now however with Radioreference.com for westchester county fire you only get the North Zone trunked some lower westchester low band and a lot of upper westchester ems. Which it's to my likings. m.ked281.com worked great on my blackberry. maybe someone will know why m.ked281.com doesn't work on the droid.

In Port Chester we are using the RIT Rescue system. This system includes 3/8 tubular kevlar webbing with Crosby, carabiner, F.I.R.E AL decsender, and a RIT class II harness. We've been using this system for over a year now. I went to the AAA demo when we were looking in to systems. Have to say I wasn't impressed from the beginning. When the guys from RIT were doing the demo / sales pitch they were wearing plan cloth no PPE taking their time sitting up on the window sill. Then I asked if we could see the system deployed in real time but that didn't happen. When then had the chance to look at the system. The decsenders that were there weren't working right. They said that the first generation decsenders had too much power coating on the inside and caused to much friction for the webbing to pass. Why bring something that doesn't work right to a demo? Needless to say our dept went with this system. We still have issues with the decsenders. Dirt and other particles from the webbing get stuck inside of the decsender and causes it not to perform properly. The carabiner at the end gets in the way when doing window sill anchors with the Crosby hook. The harness I'm also not a fan of compared to the Gemtor. With the Gemtor you have a class II harness with ladder belt without having to purchase any extra parts. The lack of any snaps to hold the RIT harness to one side is also a pain. I think we all have many good opinions as to which our ideal system would be. Lets just remember these systems are in place for our safety and the safety of our brothers and sisters. So train regular on what system you have and become proficient so if that day comes you'll be able to tell us how the system performed. "Live to train Train to live"

Seems like someone played around with our BCT 15 and now I'm picking up the Bee Line Buses on the County Trunked system. They scanner was programmed with only the FD and EMS ID's. I also noticed on the screen it says ID Scan. Makes me think it is scanning all the ID's now. How do you close or stop it from scanning all the ID's and only have it scan the ID's that are programmed? Thank you all in advance for your time and help.
-
I understand you can lock them out as soon as someone begins to talk. Is there away to have it scan only the ID's that are programmed in the scanner?

Paul's Police Store 2630 E Tremont Ave Bronx, NY 10461-2806 (718) 597-0480 They can have one made up for you. It's pretty much the same shield as NYPD with a few different markings

I agree with the more room needed for members bags etc. The 4 door not so much a good idea. Would rather it be an extended cad then a full 4 door. With the extended cab you have room in the back for bags, PPE, etc and still would be able to recline. Sitting in an ambulance for 8hrs isn't what it's all said to be.

Great idea going to the Type 1 more leg room and much safer in accidents

Did anyone notice the lack of fall protecting on the members working near and on the edge? Should anything have happened to them would it matter if the medics for FF's Cop's Career medics I would say no. Although trauma is a BLS skill unless you have an airway problem. So the bottom line I would think is getting the best possible care when needed.

When did he work at Abbey and when was he in the City??

It’s ironic how every post has to turn in to a paid vs. volunteer debate. Why can’t it just be “Hey you guys did a good job with the equipment that was available”? We can all Monday morning quarterback every incident we see or hear of. I don’t think any aggressive firefighter weather paid or volunteer will argue that training is key. To add to the I-95 call in Harrison I (being the Capt of Rescue 40) requested Greenwich Rescue 5 to started out. I wanted them on the road while we began working. I know the equipment and the training that comes with Rescue 5. You can always sent them home if not needed. This request went through Bn. 15 and as you can see it never happened. That was not the time nor place to argue why my request wasn’t honored. We went there with a job to do. That job was to safely extricate one patient. That task was done to the best of our ability with the limited equipment on scene. What played a major part in this task was all of our training and yes I said training.

You do that so when you are passing the shore it doesn't come apart.

If you look at Port Chester all the portables are on VHF with the Chiefs and paid guys having the repeater channel so they can transmit to 60 control. How hard is it to have them switch to channel 2 while on the fire ground? The IC can still monitor 60 control and when the IC needs to transmit he just has to switch to channel 1. Is that asking too much?

When's the next test?
