As most people are saying i agree that it depends on the type of alarm and whats happings at that time. and the operator should have an SCBA near by because if you have a cloud of nasty stuff going near the engine he/she might want to put it on. Most of our operators have on just pants while in operation unless something is up.

**************, I don't think its so much of a rabbit tool doing less damage the a set of irons. I feel that with the rabbit tool you have more control over the door and how fast it swings with a set of irons it takes 2 people, and with Vol fire depts having less manpower and the "I'm not getting out of bed for that" factor you have to use whats you think will be best, with the rabbit tool yes it takes two people, one to use the tool and one to wack it, however what we have done before if once the rabbit tool is set in place, the person who was wacking the tool can now use a small rope to go around the knob or handle of the door and gain control from the door swinging wide open and either A) slam the door into you PT slam the door in a table of something and end up knocking what ever was on the table over and making a mess.

damn nasty crash but looks like a good job doen

There are times that the IC does ask for just an engine or a ladder and county does there thing, however look at Hughsonville, they have Rombout at automatic MA with there ladder for any thing that sounds like a possible structure fire and things of that nature (which I have to problem with) but others are wondering why Rombout gets called all the time when the Village of Wappingers and New Hamburg (at the time) both have a ladder and they boarder each other. I think that splitting the district would be more feasible.

The PT has the right to deny any treatment and/or transport. Like said before you can also make the PT injury worse by makeing them upset. However you should also contact medical control and advise them of what you have and your pt's wish's.

there is a vol. group called R.E.A.C.T I forgot what it stands for. I know that about 5yrs ago there were just starting to become big in putnam/dutchess counties. They monitor both CB and H.A.M. radio for problems. they also help with traffic and radio comm. on large events/incidents
