That rescue truck has arrived at Excelsior garage in Mamaroneck but is still without graphics. A new seagrave engine also just arrived there,, which I believe is destined for Hastings.

Elmsford L55 relocated to Sleepy Hollow HQ to cover SH and Tarrytown
-
Nope, it was returned a while ago

Situation has stabilized for now at least. We are in the preliminary stages of designing a new rescue-pumper, but there is nothing concrete to report on yet. We will certainly keep everyone advised to our progress.

It was a good time last year. Absolutely bring your camera. Also, they usually raffle off a nice prize. Buy something to have a shot because you never know...last year, I won a Joe Torre autographed Diamond Plate series engine.

They had a photo in the following day's paper of the Arkansas FF's meeting Bill Clinton in Chappaqua

The vote last night did pass for the additional $ for the project.

Very sad photos. Damage looks pretty bad, but not quite a total loss. Is it going to be fixed or is it history?

THE FIRST 10-75 WAS AT 10 HEMINGWAY AVENUE C/S LINCOLN AVENUE.

Today's journal news states that Mt. Vernon is accepting bids for a new 95ft Tower Ladder. It also says that Yorktown Heights board of commisioners is meeting to discuss a new ladder truck. I thought Yorktown was keeping their old seagrave for a while longer. Any idea what they are looking at for a replacement. Since they are big on KME, how about a twin to Ossining's L41?
-
Another department switching from a straight stick to a tower? Am I alone or is this tower craze starting to get out of hand?
-
Did they get to use their fireboat?

Rye's patrol 3 got a new rig in the late 80's on an International chassis. It is now utility 39.
-
Ladder 31 is to be replaced shortly and I believe one of the career rigs (58 or 59) might also go to bid shortly. Port Chester is scrambling to spend their fire protection monies from Rye Brook before that deal ends, in a year or 2. Rye Brook had been charging it's residents a fire protection tax, which was going to PCFD. Though I believe PCFD will still respond woth Rye Brook on some alarms, the protection tax is about to disappear. As for the new tiler, I had heard Pierce, but Seagrave seems to make more sense. It's nice having the Seagrave dealer in Mamaroneck.

No temporary markings are on it. We are also using it's inventory number (902) to call the rig. Hopefully, it won't have to call 60 Control, as 902 isn't on any apparatus lists. Upon further reveiw of the Yonkers section of FDNY Trucks, I see that it is actually the former 308, not 309. Good eyes Yonkers R3. As soon as this site gets back up, I'll post a picture of the rig sitting IFO our HQ.

It looks pretty beaten up, but it starts and goes when it's needed.....which is more than can be said for our engines. Thanks again Yonkers, we appreciate it.

We ran into trouble with several districts who had to get approval from their board of fire commisioners before they could lend us a rig. Most of these boards would only hear such motions at their monthly meetings. Because we needed one as an emergency, we could not wait. Mamaroneck Village had offered us their spare, E39, but they had to put that rig into unexpected long term sevice when one of their line rigs, E42, went out for months with various problems. We did not contact everyone in the county. Thus, Yonkers and FDNY came up. If anyone does have available engines, I would love to know for the future. Yonkers has been very generous, but even they might get tired of us coming to them again and again.

My favorite is Port Chester TL2 "Going to Hell in a Bucket"

We have borrowed this engine now for a second time in the last 6 months. We have had some major apparatus problems of late, with 2 of our three engines and the ladder OOS at the same time for weeks at a time due to various mechanical problems and small accidents. At one point in October, we began calling other Westchester departments frantically looking for someone to loan us an engine. The only two takers were Yonkers and FDNY. The city actually offered to lend us an engine and a tiller. Yonkers, however, was an easier deal. We again have one of their reserve engines, known by it's shop number (902.) It was once Engine 309.

86 Chatsworth Avenue First in units (including myself) found construction debris burning inside the basement of a 2 story house undergoing renovations. Fire quickly knocked down with water cans and mnimal extension. TMFD Ladder 19 was called immediately as our TL7 is OOS for at least a month while a new bucket is installed.

Hawthorne working fire at 192 Manhattan Avenue. Hawthorne E156, U31 and 2192 on the initial dispatch. Valhalla dispatched as well, bringing E83, E84, TL49 and Rescue 9. 2192 on scene reporting working fire in the basement of a 2 1/2 story house. Thornwood E89 (FAS Team) to scene. Pleasantville TL5 and Elmsford E237 relocated to Hawthorne HQ. North White Plains E74 relocated to Valhalla HQ. Briarcliff R37 to scene for cascade.
-
They paged at least 2 times for Hawthorne manpower, but only 1 engine got out. I think their tower was OOS at the time.
-
Croton Falls is going out to bid for a new engine to replace Engine 148's 1986 Spartan/FMC. Hawthorne is also going to bid on a new ambulance.
-
Ossining uses U51 in addition to an engine company, usually E98. Valhalla uses Rescue 9 and Peekskill uses E134, which is their rescue truck. Rescues are also good as they usually have more space to carry all of the necessary FAS equipment. In Larchmont, we are about to "launch" our FAS team using our Rescue1. We did this for storage reasons and also to offer departments in the area the benefit of calling our rescue for both a FAS team and a cascade unit (if there is enough manpower.)

Congratulations Buchanan on the Utility's first mutual aid action last night in Ossining.
