Purchase E239 and Mamaroneck Village L20 relocated to Port Chester HQ for standby. Ambulances on scene from PortCheter/Rye VAC and Harrison VAC.

The most recent edition of Fire Apparatus Journal, which arrived today, reports that in there are new engines on order for South Salem, Thornwood and Valhalla. Anyone have any more info or conformation on this?

Mohegan has 3 quints with ladder 10, ladder 35 and Engine 250, which has a telesquirt boom. Is there a 4th one?

How about a knowledgeable operator. Positioning is everything. If an apparatus is in the wrong spot it becomes a $300,000 crowd control barricade.

The old yellow Maxim was donated to a department in New Hampshire.

Purchase ordered their new rescue months ago and it's being built as we speak. It's a Seagrave heavy rescue. Purchase is also getting ready to spec out another new engine to replace E238.

Better underline money. We retook possesion of one of our engines from the 20's about 2 years ago. Putting it back in shape has taken a great deal of money and manpower. As of today, it's still not capable of running on it's own. While we feel it will be a great PR tool in the future, it has been a slow laborous journey thus far. Be sure that your membership has the time and knowledge to embark on an ambitious renovation project first.

If you like that firehouse get your pictures now. Plans are underway to rebuild VMFD Station 3 (Mamaro) on Plamer avenue and put the ladder companys there with E40. Once this is done, the old firehouse for L20 will be sold.

New or nothing. We have already rebuilt it once in 1985 and it's just had it. It would be worth rebuilding as an antique only. It does still pump (I think) and would be great for musters. Once we have deceided on a date to accept bids for it, I'll post it. Be sure to bring a flatbed for it

Yes Engine 35, 1 1969 Mack repowered in 1985 is officially dead and has been for several months. It is no longer repairable as the parts now have to be custom made due to the age of the truck. A replacement rig is on the drawing board, but the village has not been receptive to the idea of a new engine.

Word is that Harrison is about to order 2 new engines to replace the current apparatus at E11 and E13. Damn shame, Engine 11 is a fine rig (1988 Mack/Ward 79) At the moment, no details on the new apparatus, but I would bet on 2 seagraves similar to Engine 12's 1999 model.

I think I heard somewhere that the West Harrison antenna is facing south, so you might not be in the reception range on the Hudson. I know that it fades pretty quickly once you go too far west (ie across the Tappan Zee) Thanks for the Peekskill repeater frequency!

Must say thanks to whoever posted the West Harrison repeater for 46.26 on 453.000 a few weeks ago. In lower Westchester and down through Manhattan the reception is fantastic

Here in Larchmont, we have a 95ft. Tower which is just too darn big and clumsy forsome of our streets. It's also very tough to get up due to the trees and wires that are everywhere here. The Town of Mamaroneck is our 2nd due truck with Ladder 19 (a 1998 Seagrave 100ft rearmount stick) They get that thing into the tightest places imaginable. Towers have their place, but there shouldn't be one in every town like what is starting to happen to westchester. In the past 3 years alone, Chappaqua, Valhalla, Croton, Peekskill and purchase have switched from sticks to towers.

Greg Hibbard, a Lieutenant from Larchmont. Also a member of our new FAST team and a driver of Rescue1. This is a great page and I have been happy to have been "on staff" for the past few months. Keep up the good work.
