  1. Just to clarify, 24 hours of "Ops" training - pertains to Haz-mat? If so, the Haz-Mat First Responder Ops class is only 16 hours.... where do the other 8 come from? I always thought it was required to have 12 hours? And for the FF's - I always was under the impression that Awareness was the only required training. I hate sounding dumb, but I need to know. Thanks.

  3. It appears you all missed this statement.
  4. Chief, that looks like a lot of 5" - how much is it? I was listening to the 2nd Alarm last week on Curtis and heard B1 telling E307 to get ready to drop the LDH. Have you guys noticed any advantages / disadvantages to using the 5" as opposed to the 3"? We use 5" as supply with 2 1/2" as a backup (if needed). Thanks.
  5. That video is easier to watch with the sound off! Did the 2nd Engine hit that parked car? I heard the "Whoa" from in the cab...
  6. It helps remove fumes from fuel cans, generators, saws, etc.
  7. Thanks everyone! Had a good one - my sisters, parents, girlfriend and other friends surprised me with a party last weekend - which was very cool. Hey Craig, I'm not worried about the grays, just as long as I keep my hair!!!!! Thanks again everyone! Hey Seth..........SHINE.......
  8. Bedford gets dispatched off of the Grasslands and Mountain Lakes transmitters. You're probably hearing Grasslands most often.

  11. That rig (55B1) is still in service. Nobody likes it, it rides like crap and is an enormous lift getting patients in and out. The reason it hasn't been replaced sooner is because there isn't much mileage on it. The theory is that after another year or so, it will be more "reasonable" to our Village to replace it. It is a possibility, though nothing is set in stone, that it would replace Croton PD's Truck 1, which, coincedentally, is one of our old ambulances also. The EMS Fly-Car will be used for multiple reasons. Duty EMT and/or Duty Officer, Special Ops, Towing our County MCI trailer, fire scene assistance, etc. There is some debate whether the SUV is needed but since we're getting the approval for the funds now, they have to take it before it vanishes.
  12. If we have a drill going on, we take an ambulance. We use the stretcher as the "Food table." Mmmmmmm.......
  13. I doubt we went to this parade.... but anything of Croton?
  14. Close, but no cigar. The $66,000 the Village was allocating is broken down as follows. $33,000 for an EMS Command / Duty Vehicle. $21,000 for the continuing SCBA replacement program. $12,000 for new AEDs. Don't feel bad for not knowing that, I'm a Chief and had to find this out by watching the Village Board meeting.
  15. Thanks! I am told that FC 1 made it's first response to Eastchester, with 622 & 629. The Captain, 614, was also on scene.
  16. Nope, it went down county first - I just can't remember where at the moment! But that Kisco fire was the first time in it for me, so that was nice ($).
  17. Cool little tribute to your father and Grandmother, Seth. Very cool. -#34 (well, 33 I suppose...)
  18. As far as U78 goes - I truly have no idea. FC1 is staffed by us, the 60 Control Dispatchers. When a request is made for it we usually do a callback to get 2 operators to respond. If it's during the day and extra personnel are in house, they will respond. Sometimes you'll see just one of us, other times you may even see up to 4. FYI to all, the new FC1 is in service and running calls.
  19. Like they say, you can't teach common sense. If you work there you have to believe they knew the cameras were there and that someone (probably Billy Bob in the ball cap) was going to blab. If I was there and she walked in, if we had a female on duty I would summon her ASAP - let her deal with this girl who was more then likely under the influence of something. Dumb.... You can make your standards as high as you want for hiring, but like I said, common sense can't be taught.
  20. A little of each. Engine 119 is the Route 9 Express.... making non-stop trips north and south.
  21. Don't forget those of us to the south....you know, "Quad-Village..."
  22. I can't view the video...
  23. What the hell is EMTBravo?! Is this something new???
  24. It's not really a fire station. It is a garage / storage facility being built on the Fire Training Center property. It's being referred to as "Station 7" because many of the DES vehicles are "7's." Like Seth said, it will be used to house (from what I hear): Engine 7 Ladder 7 Rescue 77 (TRT) Utility 77 (TRT) Haz-Mat 1 Utility 78 (HM Support) Field Comm 1 It also has a warehouse / storage facility in it for supplies and resources. A 200 car parking lot was also put in south of this building on Walker Road, east of the Training Center. It's nice to see the ongoing upgrades to the County's Emergency Service center. I remember taking classes where a "car fire" was a traffic cone and our "engine" was a shopping cart with donut rolls in it!!!
