  1. I have no idea what you or Seth are talking about..... Keep up the good work, us whackers depend on one another!
  2. Man I miss that Mack!!!! Good photos Tim!
  3. I dispatch it as it is given to me. "Smoke from a structure." "Inside odor of smoke." "Smoke in a structure." "Structure fire." Because an odor of smoke could mean a fire, my department's policy is to send a full assignment, even on odors of gas. Many times a caller reports an odor of gas, and it turns out to be an odor of smoke (especially electrical burning).
  4. It's been 11 years but we still remember every day. Miss you Mike!
  5. Where'd they mount everything? I know with the Trailblazers I have helped hook stuff up in, there is no room in them! Good luck with it AFD, looks nice (and simple!).
  6. Croton Marine 12 was dispatched to the Hudson River south of Croton Point for a sailboat taking on water. Ossining FD's Marine 14 is presently Out of Service, but 2334 and other members of the OFD "grabbed" a boat at Westerly Marina and responded. Car 2331 had a visual on the vessel and updated units that all parties aboard were in the water. The "OFD Boat" and WCPD Marine 4 grabbed the six youths while Croton FD Marine 12 assisted in recovering the sailboat and brought it to dock. A good operation by all agencies (and there were a lot of 'em!) with a good end result. Ossining EMS was standing by at Westerly, while Croton R18 & CEMS 55B2 staged at Croton Point. Unit Rundown: Ossining FD: 2331, 2334 Croton FD: 2083, M12, R18 Ossining EMS: 74A1, 74B1, 36M1 Croton EMS: 55B2 WCPD: Marine 4 Yonkers PD Marine Unit Piermont FD Marine Unit Stony Point FD Marine Unit Haverstraw FD Marine Unit Sleepy Hollow FD M7 Thanks to all that assisted, that vessel in distress had two of ours on it!
  7. Regarding the two incidents in Croton on 6/11/08... The fire at 25 South Riverside Avenue was a pair of electric generators that caught fire, within 3 feet of the two story commercial building. One 1 3/4" line was put to use with foam. No extension or damage to the building which houses Croton Hardware on the first floor and Bestweb Internet offices on the 2nd floor. Frank Becerra Jr. from the Journal News was there popping a bunch of pictures, which can be seen here: Lohud.com Video link: Lohud.com The car into the building at 10 Maple Street was minor for the most part, however two males were injured when they were struck / run over by the car. This is a single story strip mall, just to the north east of Croton Diner on South Riverside Avenue. Additional info is at the link below. Lohud.com story. Good work by all members of CFD, CEMS and CPD.
  8. A very busy and unusual week to say the least for us. More info and pics regarding these two incidents and others responded to last week here: crotonfd.com
  9. On a lighter note... It's too bad she didn't hit our 55B1 and finally put that thing out of it's misery! All of my fellow CEMS members and Medics that have worked in that heap would agree!
  10. I would look around the JETS' locker room. It's the closest to owning Super Bowl rings they'll ever be!!
  11. I wasn't there but this is what I have been told by people there. CCVAC was transporting a patient to the hospital from another MVA. They were going SB on Albany Post Road to pick up Route 9. Near the Springvale Road intersection, a female, who apparently has been arrested for DWAI, struck the rig. Luckily, none of the crew members suffered any injuries. The rig took some minor damage. On a personal level, knowing the crew and all, I hope this a$$hole gets the stiffest penalty possible. Her carelessness could of hurt several people. I HATE DRUNK DRIVERS. Kudos to the SP for making the arrest of this piece of dung.
  12. Well said 2275. Did anyone get photos?
  13. Parts of Westchester took a good beating too.
  14. "Unit 91 to HQ, I'm gonna be out with a vehicle with no plates. It appears to be an, uh, um, Igloo Cooler."
  15. The color of the smoke makes me think wood was in there and burning. Anyone know for sure?
  16. I think it's safe to say you can relate a Westchester County Battalion to a Resource Unit Leader at an FDNY scene. They help organize and coordinate resources so the IC can handle the actual incident.
  17. I've seen and heard of new updates in NFPA 1901 that take effect next year. Does anyone know where I can get an "abbreviated" copy? Thanks. EDITED - Because I found what I was looking for. http://www.nfpa.org/assets/files/PDF/ROP/1...08-ROPDraft.pdf
  18. Best of luck to you - God Bless!
  19. I remember that too. We had three seperate brush fires at pretty much the same time. While we were taking up from those, T10 got dispatched Mutual Aid to the IBM property in Archville for a brush fire courtesy of this train.
  20. What is wrong with us? Responding / returning: WAY TOO HIGH Training: SHOULD NOT HAPPEN! Only a little over half of departments require physycals? And less then a 1/4 give cardiac stress tests? Come on people - wake up! We are killing ourselves, and we have nobody else to blame.
  21. It was on ESPN on Monday around Noon. I was at the firehouse with a few of the guys BS'ing, when this came on all the talking stopped and we watched it quietly. Very nice gesture.
  22. Personally I think Battalion 18 should catch a paycheck from Mount Vernon!!!
  23. Here's a couple of photos from the MVA we had tonight on Quaker Ridge Road. More info and pics at CROTON FIRE Unit Info: CFD: 2082, 2083, E118, E120, T10, R18 CEMS: 5511, 55B2 Tri-Community ALS: 36M1 LifeNet (STATFlight) YHFD: 2533, E273 (Traffic / scene control) NYSP Con Ed Electric
