  1. Just finished adding it - Speed Dial 193.... We've taken a few calls down here at 60 Control where we've had to do some recon missions. One such case I remember was in Florida, and thanks to Google we were able to get the info to the appropriate response center. I know a lot of people believe in centralized dispatch - but I think we should think globally now!
  2. Nicely done Cutty.
  3. Congrats, Good Luck and God Bless!!!!! So I guess CC24 won't be going to the South Salem fire??
  4. I thought St. Louis was dumping the Quint concept? And doesn't Syracuse use Telesquirts or something similar instead of traditional pumpers?
  5. Plectron, Now that I am a little rested up, perhaps I can make it!
  6. Congrats to Debbie, Wayne and Uncle Jimmy!

  9. Here's a couple of pics from the Ossining / Croton vehicle extrication drill held on Saturday, October 4th at the Ossining Operations Center. Many thanks to Ossining FD for the invite!
  10. This poor Lt. was faced with an unpredictable EDP and did what his training, experience and gut told him to do. I am sure the second the taser was "fired" he was concerned with his choice but he had a job to do and he did it. Sadly, the end result wasn't just the death of this EDP, it was the suicide death of this Lieutenant. Very sad news, thoughts with everyone.
  11. Congrats Fairview and Captain Danyko. It's been a long time, so forgive me. What is the staffing now per Group, and what is the Command Structure? Do you still have Lieutenants / Captains on the Group? Good luck new guys!
  12. I'm looking for some help. I know the NFPA and OSHA have their standards / recommendations for firefighter physical standards and requirements. Where can I find some (free) literature on this? Can anyone cite actual NFPA and/or OSHA wording on these matters? Also - in the event a firefighter has sustained a heart attack or other medical condition and their Doctor has cleared them for full duty, can they return to duty? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
  13. For those of you who care, as of today 10/1/08, Croton FD and Croton EMS are now dispatched Full Time by 60 Control. A huge thanks to the CAD Division for all of their time, patience and expertise helping us make a near seemless switch. Many thanks to CC5, 614, 626, 629, 644 and everyone else that helped us get things done. See some of you tonight at shift change!
  14. I first visited 60 Control in the area of 1987 or 1988. My Dad was Chief at the time (2081) and we were in the area, my sister had cut herself somehow and we stopped at 60 for some bandages or something. I am not positive, but I think 602 and 606 were working. Very cool memory. Now, I am "one of them" since April 2002. In the short time I've been here, we've taken on many more responsibilities, handled thousands of calls, I've made many friends and have learned so much. There's been a lot of people here and gone in my little stint here, and I am sure I'll see more during my career. Here's to all the 60 Control Dispatchers - past, present and future! 23:45 / 642
  15. Date: Tuesday 9/16/08 When: 19:00 Where: Croton Point Park (main parking lot) What: The Battalion 10 Rig Familiarization Drill - featuring the rigs of Croton FD. For Who: Members of Croton, Montrose, VA Montrose, Buchanan, Verplanck and Peekskill FD's. This is a good idea by Battalion 10 and the Chiefs in our zone. Let's continue to work together and see a good showing at this demo of Croton's rigs. We've been to Buchanan FD, and on the 30th of this month we'll be stopping in to see what the VAFD has too. Thanks - hope to see some of you Tri-Villagers and Peepskill folks there!
  16. I heard the same thing Seth. If anything else should come my way I'll give you a shout.
  17. Cough. Did anyone get pics? Cough.
  18. For me, I like to keep all companies going until one of us is on scene and can confirm what is / isn't needed. For example, we send 1 Engine, 1 Quint and 1 Rescue on residential alarms. I'll keep the Engine coming in Emergency mode and all else in non-emergency mode until someone confirms it is false. Once on scene we can determine that the Quint and Rescue can take up. Some like to cancel rigs before being on scene, I won't. I say this because if I get there and it was food on the stove with a good amount of smoke, I may need the fans on the Truck, and if I cancelled them now I have to retone them, which is foolish to me.
  19. Good luck to all - especially our own 655!
  20. F Clemens. Where was Pags? How about Ricky?
