A suggestion, reach out to your local FD and see if they can get together and do Technical Rescue and / or Vehicle Rescue stuff with you. Its a great way to keep them interested, and possibly motivate them to get into the Fire/Rescue service as well.

I wish I did it myself, but I am utilizing the services of firehousewebsites.com. They took my graphics and made that banner. Thanks for checking us out!

@11:12hrs - C2103 w/ a 10-30, all hands still operating in the "opening up" process. L13 NRFD relocating to Eastchester Sta. 1 with E31.

As the birthplace of the american circus, why not raffle off an elephant that can juggle? THAT would be cool!
-
Yup, we're getting all kinds of garbage and have no clue why. Hopefully, all of our new equipment is here soon and this problem will go bye-bye.
-
Great idea CM36 - count us in!
-
We generally add our Tanker to all fire runs, just in the event the hydrants are buried.
-
Eastchester L16 also on the relocate assignment "K"
-
E134 and E135 were assigned to KEC625 Somers - And I thought the first actual Tanker designation was Continental Village who WAS Tanker 1 but GBFD somehow got that # and CVFD has T11. Res20cue - the answer for my question - close but no cigar... check Dept. Lists for the real answer "K"

Doug, I posted a reply in the mid-mount / rear-mount area. Hope it helps.

I could be wrong, but placement of the turntable for optimum aerial reach is the deciding factor for me. We just recently did away with our 1971 Maxim Mid-mount and have a 2002 Pierce Rear mount tower. Swinging the "a**-end" to get in a good position is a pain, compared to how easy it was to position the turntable mounted behind the cab. I also hate the bucket over the front - it kills your field of vision. If you aren't looking ahead, you may come to a stop in a crappy spot for setup. Plus - the midmounts I see nowadays like TL57, TL49, L51, and Yonkers' Towers seem to be able to get into tighter areas where wires are all-over. Just an opinion, not a promotion.

Know what? EmtBravo - we need bagpipes played at this forum for our long lost pals, the Mack "C".

One tip for you YG - Keep your eyes and your ears open all the time. Learn as much as you can and when you think you've heard it all, go take another course. A good firefighter is a LIFE STUDENT of the service. Good luck in your endeavors.

Hey I got it right! So here's a new question for all of you. How many Fire Departments in Westchester County are NOT dispatched on 46.26? Winner gets to stump the rest of us next......

I've worked with Hurst tools since getting into the FD in 1992. I have never run into any major problems, but I feel that they are a little heavy. Recently, I have used Lukas tools and find them to be lighter, but they don't seem to have that "umpth" Hurst has. Maybe someone out there can shed more light.

Wasn't Somers' Ladder 18 purchased from Larchmont or someone down-county?
-
DFFD - my feelings are hurt!!! Croton and Ossining are the SAME? Ouch! Ossining is closer to you, they have it made because they don't run EMS - unlike our sorry asses! Besides, Croton is home to Engine 119, the same cab as your TL23!
-
Omaha? DAMN!!!! Did you say 34G to start? I'm packing and heading out there. Attention all, opening at 60 Control!!! LOL Mike's right, most of the WestCom elite were crummy, and I for one was DA BOMB BABY!!! And sometimes the crews were a pain in the a**, but overall it was a cool gig. As for going back to 60 Control - F-U and the mule you rode in on!!!

In all honesty, ten codes create too much confusion. Tonight alone I had two units give the wrong codes. This not only creates confusion on our end, but screws up data in the CAD. Here's another thought... what is 10-29? Progress report? Maybe. Ask someone in Yonkers. If say, DFFD went into Yonkers for a fire, would each dept understand the other's 10 codes? I think universal codes would work, but since westchester has over 50 agencies, you get 50+ opinions.

Can anyone tell me where all the Mack C95's in the Cortlandt area went? Croton's Engine 119, Verplanck's E127, Montrose's E122?, Buchanan's E160? I miss them, please find them! Last I heard, when we sold our old C95 for $1501 it went out to Indiana. While on the topic, anyone know where our old Tanker 10 went after Pocantico Hills?
-
I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that Ossining VAC has or is in the process of creating a Tactical EMS Unit.
-
Mack - Yesterday's premier rigs. Seagrave - Today's premier rigs. American LaJunk - enough said. Pierce - um, no comment other then P.O.S. "Pierce of s***" But that could be related to Tyler.....

E61 is very close to what we are looking at for E119's replacement.
