Do you guys deliver to your friends at 4 Dana Road in Valhalla?!
-
Thanks! Which rig was yellow? Was that L26?

Armonk E287? Banksville L77? Rye E193? White Plains E210? Those are the only ones I can think of that are still around (I think). I do recall quite a few that WERE around in Westchester at one point, including my favorites, the old E118 (63 convertible) and L44 (71 mid-mount).

Did anyone get hurt?

Some cool stuff! I like the "Manhattan Bridge." God Bless the guys in the field and those at the Comm Center!!!

Man, all this time I have been trying to figure out a way to drive the Engine and film it while holding my Slurpee.... In all seriousness, the Driver and Officer should have all thier eyes on the road. If you have a crew on board I truly don't think that if one guy is taping your response it is a "safety" concern. If you think about it, it's no different then a member riding that is watching the response out the window..... Just remember, even if you aren't taping your actions, there is always a good chance that Big Brother is STILL watching anyway...

Already did, enjoyed it, got the t-shirt. (Well, no shirt...but you get the point). For the most part, the FD I am a part of is pretty good about using Incident Command / Management. I agree with you too that if it is something you don't regularly use, you forget it. For example, ask someone about friction losses two months after thier class... The problem with the whole ICS / IMS thing is that so many people are afraid to change. It's amazing that people gripe over stupid things like calling it an "A-side" or the "1 side" - how people can't grasp the idea that we can survive without ten codes and - my personal favorite - God forbid the IC stays put at one place instead of roaming around. Some scenes are so bad you almost need an "ICFAST" to go find the person "In Charge." One Department I've listened to and am impressed with is the White Plains FD. Just by thier radio designations at a scene you can tell who is where and what they are doing. PS - good luck with the whole Viagra / Nitro thing....

What irritates me is that so many of us took the old ICS class BEFORE our fearless government saw an oppurtunity to turn it into a matter of money. I took the ICS course in 1995, with Ray Rush. It was a little boring but I got the basic concept. Now, we have to take I-100, I-700 and more for Officers - but it almost seems like it is redundant! All of these classes are pretty much the same, right? Nothing for nothing, I really think the old ICS class we took covered our day to day stuff just fine.... Anyone else thinking the same thing I am?!

Anyone care to take a stab at this one? Open House Mishap

Rescue 18 has both an on-board Hurst power unit and a portable Hurst unit, which is used to power two spreaders, one cutter and three rams. Engine 120 has a portable Hurst power unit which is used with a Combi-tool. Engines 118 and 119 carry Holmatro HCT3120+ hand-powered combi-tools as well. These tools were purchased primarily for our FAST but are there if needed at a disentanglement call.

I promise you, after years of putting it off, I finally took a shower. As for Art....well that's just a lost cause!

I agree with p**** (Squad119) - if he just drops dead it is unjust. I think we should visit him while he is sick and suffering, strap him down and make him listen to the God awful sound of someone running thier fingernails down a chalkboard until he succumbs to his ailment. Ahhh....the sweet sensation of torture.....B-E-A Utiful!

Unfortunately, you already missed the filing deadline for the upcoming October 21st test.

Pelham FD gets dispatched on 33.96 for ALL calls. The volunteers of Pelham get paged on 46.26. Communications are on 46.06. Pelham Manor FD gets dispatched on 33.96 and operates on 46.26. Hope that helps.

Yonkers has two HME / Smeals I think.

I think this is a pretty cool thing. I think there may be something like this in a few communities around Westchester..... My one and only question - does the insurance that the Medic's employer provides know about this and will they cover them if God forbid something happens? I'd hate to see a Medic helping a down Cop get hurt then find out insurance won't cover it because it was "beyond the scope of thier practice." Anyone got pics of this stuff - I am interested in it.

I think fines are from the old days where it was more of a club then a fire company. In ours, fines aren't something you see too often. If you miss calls - it happens. If you don't make the 10% you don't qualify for the LOSAP. Miss the call percentage two years in a row, risk the loss of your membership. Meetings - if you miss more then two in a row without an excuse, you get fined. HOWEVER - if the member is active firematically this usually gets waived. Cleanups, parades, drills - no fines. If you don't meet your OSHA requirements you risk losing your active status and/or membership. When I first joined the Company was harsh with it's fines. Now, being that training and covering calls is FINALLY superior to the other BS, if a member is very active training and responding, they don't see any fines. We buy uniforms too, if you don't participate you either give it back or pay for it. Dues are $10 per year. This goes into the operations of the company (house supplies, meals, etc.). Once you hit 20 years of service, all dues and fines are dismissed.

I only have one thing to add. I hate seeing all that plastic crap on the interior of a fire truck. That is my #1 turnoff with the ALF in our fleet as well as our Pierce. It's gotta be rugged and able to take a little abuse. That's why I was a fan of our Mack and am a fan of our new Seagrave. Save the plastic for your Chief's cars. For the money you pay for a fire truck now, there should be gold plated interior panels!!!!
