Hmmm....... Who cares?! It's the same thing as the discussion of Police using blue lights - whatever makes things safer for all is the most important thing. Personally, I would like to see the fire service getting permission to use some blue warning lights - even if it was to the rear only.

I love the DMV!! For almost 4 years, we have been fighting with the DMV to change the title for our 88B3. They keep listing it as a "GAS" vehicle when it is obviously a "DIESEL." Interesting story Trauma!

Happy Birthday Tim!

The new ambulance ordered for Cortlandt was suppost to have the exhaust that came out on the Driver's side - but if I recall correctly the manufacturer said it couldn't be done.

Why would you want pictures of Briarcliff's HQ anyway? The damn trucks are WHITE!!! In all seriousness, taking pictures of a firehouse or Police station isn't a big deal. I'm willing to bet that person was probably a member of the FD or even the PD, even if they didn't have a sticker or light in their car. Oh wait - maybe it was CLAY TIFFANY!!!!

WELL SAID! What people do in their free time should be their own business. How can you tell a Firefighter that doesn't make enough money that working a side job isn't allowed? Further - why can't a paid Firefighter who, 95% of the time, has more experience and training then most volunteers, be a member of the department where they live? Most of you Paid guys have a lot to offer us in the Volunteer world. And hey, we aren't taking your jobs - we're just doing our best to provide for our communities - like, in many cases, our ancestors did. I would never jump in and do something if I was taking away from someone's bread & butter, because that's not what I (and those in my Department) are about.

Here's a list of backups in the event of a depleted wing supply. Back Up Plan I'm partial to the quesadillas myself...

Did someone forget to flip a switch for the rear warning lights? Nice looking rig - good luck with it!

These are the boots I now have. I love these. Warrington Pro 5000 - I believe they are made of Kevlar and have a heavy duty toe covering. Really light and very comfortable.

Coffee cans are a good way to stretch them out too. If you can, put them near a boiler or furnace - the heat will loosen them up a bit. The all leather ones get stiff as hell in the cold weather. Remember too, with the leather boots don't take them off by stepping on the heel of the boot to get out of it. Over time you can damage the boot significantly. Just watch those boots in the real cold weather, the sole seems to get stiff and traction becomes a little rough. One last thought, I went through a few pairs of those boots because I ripped the loops out of them. the reason, I think, is because the boot was too tight and when I was pulling them up I tore them right out.

Not sure if this is a good idea or not, but good to know (I guess?!) New Use of TIC

I'm not easily "wowed" by things - but this really, truly is fantastic! All of those involved in creating not only this beautiful and amazing wing, but those that helped make the Children's Hospital happen should be proud of themselves. This facility is one of the coolest and most awesome things I have seen - and it's even cooler knowing it is here in Westchester! God bless all of you involved, especially the Arenas and Fire Departments that made it happen!

The other hydrant topic has me thinking. Are you (your agency I should say) notified when hydrants in your area are out of service? I know at work we get calls from many of the water departments in Westchester reporting hydrants that are out / back in service. Our policy is to contact the Chief(s) of that Department and what they do with it from there is up to them. How does your FD handle this? Ours - honestly, I don't even know of a real system. Maybe the Water Department calls the PD and they go "OK thanks?" Maybe they call the Chief and he doesn't mention it EVER to ANYONE?! Thoughts?
-
Cha-ching, baby! LOL. Another thing that came to mind on this topic - snow removal. I think we had a thread about that in the past - anyone recall it? Anyway, our Village law says you have to clear any hydrant in front of your home. Most people abide by this - some don't.

I edited my previous..... I apologize if I annoyed anyone if I seemed to have gone a little overboard. Problem resolved.

My apologies. Back to the subject of "Hydrant markings."
