Cabinet Members do not set policy, they carry out the President's policy. I think we all have to wait and see. Maybe a little positivism would be good for all of us.

OVAC has been fighting a losing battle with recruitment and retention, like many, many other organizations.

My academy was Sun eveing til Fri night. Up at 0500 for PT and going straight thru until 2200-2300, not 1 minute of OT for the entire 26 weeks.

Generally, studies commissioned by PBA's/FF Unions are rarely independant and unbiased. You really need an unbiased study completed by a firm with NO ties to the Unions, the City, or especially the Developers. And given the recent financial outlook laid out by Yonkers Mayor, I would think these proposed additions have been pushed back significantly.

Well, seeing as how I didn't offer an interpetation, I can't fully address that. And as you said, 'only he can clarify what he meant'. I think that really hits the nail on the head, and I agree with you 100%. As Chris192 originally asked, what does it mean? None of us are exactly sure, we have to wait and see. But how the majority of the reponses are so negative, only a few posters suggested positive interpetations of the proposal.

I must have read the word Hitler dozens of times in this threads. Not everyone can/will agree on everything, but we need to be a little more open minded and willing to research and educate ourselves. Anyone who commented on this thread (and you know who you are) without first doing a little research into this quote/clip/idea, is, in my OPINION, part of the problem, not part of the solution. We can all agree to disagree on ideas and policy, but lets be educated about it.

Second that. Isn't that why we agreed to stop discussing politics? Some of the posts on here are more like those from the “general public” that we expect to read on LoHud blogs. No discussion of religion and politics among friends, that's the old adage.

Group think garbage? Just cause you disagree with their opinions doesn't make it group-think garbage. Your posts now and in the past clearly state your opinions, and your entitled to them, just as everyone else is. Just cause you don't care for Joe Biden, or Obama, or anyone, does not make it gospel. Well, a few points. In New York State, a "crime" is a Misdemeanor of Felony. Infractions and Violations are not crimes. And, without knowing the specifics of this incident, Double Jeopardy may not have attached depending on how the ticket was dismissed. If the matter went to trial, and the Mayor was aquitted, Double Jeopardy would attach. If the matter was dismissed on a technicality, prior to Trial or any adjudication, the Officer can file a Long-Form Information recharging the motorist, in this case the Mayor. It doesn't happen often, I have done it maybe two or three times ever. Generally reserved for rare cases. Without knowing more of the specifics, it's difficult to know what's going on with this case.

In many Towns/Villages/Cities, the PD keeps track of Water/Highway/DPW staff who are on call on nights/weekends. In many Towns/Cities (not all), PD is responsible for determining when personnel are called back in for snow/plowing.

It's difficult to label an entire ER. I personally deal pretty much with only Hudson Valley, Westchester Medical, and occasionally Phelps. Each facility has some great, pro-EMS/LE staff who bend over backwards for you, and other staff who literally wouldn't give you the time of day, no matter how long you stood there.
