That's why most of us workin the 'Uniform Services'. Clearly his intentions were right, but what about the next guy who wants to put somthing a little more risque? How do tell the next guy his image is over the line?

I believe your correct, I also read about the FDNY class being put on hold. And, seeing as Obama is not actually the President yet, I'm not too sure how you can blame him on this one?

Well, those checkpoints do exist, to a certain degree. And as for Commercial Vehicles, they are always subject to heightened inspections and always have been.

Do incidents on the Bridge automatically trigger a dual Orange and Dutchess response?

This seems logical. If the city's pain is as serious as they claim, and I have no inside knowledge that it is or isn't, I could imagine the YFD union coming to an agreement with the city that, for lack of a better term, spreads the pain among its hundreds of members, if it means saving those who would otherwise have been laid off.

PD, FD and DPW really taking the heat on this one.

Generally, the "portable" system has worked well for a number of northern Westchester agencies. And since they are pretty much the only one on their respective frequencies, it interferes with no one else. No single approch will work for every agency. Different areas and agencies have different needs, so sometimes, the approches have to be somewhat individualized.

Well said. We have the resources and the moral character to do it by the book. Stooping to their level only serves to legitimize their actions towards any of our personnel who they may happen to capture on the battlefield. It's difficult and dangerous to play both sides of the fence.

1. The Trooper involved shooting had nothing to do with immigration. 2. The shooting was in Fieldstone Pond, not in the Village. So, not sure what your example has to do with this topic.

SP has 4 Troopers on duty at night for Southeast/Patterson/Putnam Lake, with an additional 4 working in Somers/North Salem/684 if needed.

As RWC130 correctly states, it is perfectly legal and even common practice to use unmarked cars in NYS. The State Police has an internal policy that states unmarked cars should not be used for routine traffic stops if marked cars are available. NYSP unmarked cars however legally can do traffic stops if no marked unit is available. Fire and EMS personnel conducting VTL stops, as Chris192 points out, is just downright dangerous. And perhaps, even unlawful: S 135.05 Unlawful imprisonment in the second degree. A person is guilty of unlawful imprisonment in the second degree when he restrains another person. Unlawful imprisonment in the second degree is a class A misdemeanor. S 195.00 Official misconduct. A public servant is guilty of official misconduct when, with intent to obtain a benefit or deprive another person of a benefit: 1. He commits an act relating to his office but constituting an unauthorized exercise of his official functions, knowing that such act is unauthorized; or 2. He knowingly refrains from performing a duty which is imposed upon him by law or is clearly inherent in the nature of his office. Official misconduct is a class A misdemeanor. S 190.26 Criminal impersonation in the first degree. A person is guilty of criminal impersonation in the first degree when he: 1. Pretends to be a police officer, or wears or displays without authority, any uniform, badge or other insignia or facsimile thereof, by which such police officer is lawfully distinguished or expresses by his words or actions that he is acting with the approval or authority of any police department; and 2. So acts with intent to induce another to submit to such pretended official authority or otherwise to act in reliance upon said pretense and in the course of such pretense commits or attempts to commit a felony; or 3. Pretending to be a duly licensed physician or other person authorized to issue a prescription for any drug or any instrument or device used in the taking or administering of drugs for which a prescription is required by law, communicates to a pharmacist an oral prescription which is required to be reduced to writing pursuant to section thirty-three hundred thirty-two of the public health law. Criminal impersonation in the first degree is a class E felony.

Let's be patient and wait the results of the A.I.

Would it be safe to say Empress has more responses in MV then the FD?
-
I'm fairly sure the criticism is of City Government/Mayor, not the rank and file. I cannot recall anyone criticizing the membership of MVFD.
-
Like most cities, MV has City Ordinances. They have one regarding repairs in the streets.
-
Well, we might have to just disagree on the role of the media. But, and it might be a novel idea, I am going to wait and see what Obama actually does. Then we will all see if we were right or wrong.

I can say I agree with you 100%. And I also agree, no one in their right mind would take moveon.org as anything other then ultra-liberal. I'm not sure how anyone can look at general media reporting and state that they are "in bed' with one candidate or the other. Most can agree that Fox generally supports the conservative line, while MSNBC generally supports the more liberal point of view. This has just been an interesting election season to say the least.

Your right, the Heritage Foundation is well known, they have been around since the early 70's. However, the Heritage Foundation is a conservative think-tank. The example I used earlier from the Concil on Foreign Relations is a non-partisan organization. I, personally do not give much credence to left or right leaning organizations. I strive for the truly independant. Heritage's own motto literally defines them as conservatives. Not that there is anything wrong with that, they are a respectable group, just not non-partisan.
