Priceless.

While no CIC's receive bonuses or payment of the sort, programs that get reputations as "too hard" or "too demanding" or get a history of dropping under-performing students mear fear a drop in enrollment, as students could potentially seek out training that is "easier" or "less challenging". So, this is in effect a potential reason programs may push through students that we all would like to have seen be dropped long ago. And, in a county like Westchester, where without a doubt most of us either are or know all the CIC's, you have a pretty good idea from their reputation which ones push through unqualified candidates and which ones have the ethics to drop those students in the interest of remediation.

Actually Kris, being their HQ is only about a mile from Indian Point, anything is liable to be growing on the trees.

Who do you think funds the contract?
-
It's being returned to the original owner. It was only a temporary loaner anyway.

Read up on your case law. He probably will not win an appeal. Public sector employees do not have the same First Amendment rights of the general public.
-
Are you saying the personnel assigned the the Wappinger TransCare units are actually civil service employees of the Town of Wappinger? That doesn't make any sense. I think you may have misunderstood.

Happens all the time, just usually minor and you never hear about them.

Now at 25" in Monroe.

Well, very presumptuous (or clairvoyant) of you to assume what other Members are thinking. It seems like the Union doesn't need help discrediting themselves here. Just like in volleyball, sometimes when someone sets you, you spike it. And coming from a Union that has had 14 line of duty deaths in 10 years, with all associated expenses paid by the Union, I have no qualms about saying so. As for the secondary debate that has evolved, in full disclosure, I think use of taxpayer funds to stock bars at volunteer stations is equally unethical and an abuse.

I'm kind of surprised anyone is defending the choice to use more than $11,000 of taxpayers money for alcohol. If the BFD Union wanted to raise the funds for it, that would be a different story.

I can't answer that yes/no. We really need to look at the intricacies of each individual case, but often, yes, we can make them stick.

This is a good step, ER Nurses already enjoy some felony-level protections. This bill should extend it to all nurses. NYS PL 120.05 (3) NYS PL 120.08

Oh, thanks for clarifying your point. Since you had said specifically "This is the second time in recent weeks where this has happened! When are we as Police Officers gonna realize that pointing a gun at me/us should not result in being tased!," it probably appeared to most that you were directly referencing THIS incident and the actions of THESE Officers. At least it did to me. [/sarcasm]

Well, without knowing any details, as clearly no one else here seems to either, I will not be second guessing the PPD officers. They are a very active agency, who see their fair-share of activity, and I have no reason to suspect they handled this situation with anything other then the utmost level of professionalism. Anyone who works in Peekskill/Cortlandt/Buchanan knows the Dabbs/Brown crew on a first name basis...

Agreed. A shame since some of his lifestyle habits may have contributed to an early demise.

I think the fence will be an immense help. Not so much for jumpers, as already mentioned, they will still find a way. Rather, when the bridge finally hits it's breaking point and crumbles/collapses, it will give motorists something to cling to while awaiting rescue.

This was addressed in part in a 2006 NYS AG Opinion. The Opinion is deemed to be "Informal" as opposed to "Formal", as the requesting party was a County Attorney, and the Office will only deem an Opinion "Formal" when the requesting party is an Officer of the State. Had the request been made by OFPC, NYSP, OHS, etc., it would have been classified as "Formal". http://www.ag.ny.gov/bureaus/appeals_opinions/opinions/2006/informal/2006-4.pdf

In short, they did build a new station. The previous station was a century old former train depot stop, which was, in all seriousness, a condemnable structure. Despite the affluence of the community, not much support was offered. The majority of funding came from a small handful of donors. And there was much resistance from area residents, who wanted NO part of having the station near their homes. Literally hundreds of thousands of dollars were spent in legal battles.
