Well, guess were at an impasse then. I remain of the belief that if you say something, don't be afraid of someone asking you to back it up. JJB531 never made any blanket statements. He merely pointed out that an ascertain made by another poster didn't seem to hold water. And he's right. Just imagine someone implying they saw a whole bunch of guys on your job standing around at a scene, leaving the firefighting to some civilian standing there with a garden hose. You'd probably be curious and ask him to support it, no?
-
First, JJB531 isn't obligated to prove anything. He's merely asking someone who did make such a statement to back it up. Which I support. However, to answer your question, from an actual eyewitness account, it was a law enforcement action, not a civilian. As to be expected.

Great! Now I feel like all the UC's I've been part of were a waste of my time!

MRT is a full-time unit based at Stewart in the same quarters as Aviation Command. Helicopper can probably better answer this, but what would the response time be to get airborne and travel from Stewart to the Bridge? 15-20 Minutes? More, less? You didn't answer my question yet? You stated T-Way workers were forced to handcuff the last EDP with a knife. Please elaborate and cite sources.

Source of this?

What he said, +1.

Specialty Care Transport

Thanks. I was aware of that. I guess I thought I was missing something from the OP suggesting the current vendor is not happy to be there.
-
I know I'm no longer in the loop with EMS in Westchester, but was there an issue with the current vendor not being happy providing care to those who sought it. Who is the current vendor, TransCare?
-
Is that the contract for the 87 ambulance? Or something more?
-
Hypothetically, if funding wasn't an issue, what would be the optimal location for a 4th or even 5th unit for a more comprehensive coverage of the district?
-
Scott, what is the approximate call volume breakdown percentage-wise by truck?
-
Not entirely, the fact remains, even an ALS unit not tied up on BLS-ride-ins will still have long response times to outlying areas of the district. It's just a fact.
-
No, I'm aware of who operates WEMS. As I mentioned, call volume is not the issue as much as geographic accessibility to some of the outlying areas of Northeast Westchester. It has nothing to do with the dedication or work ethic of the Medics, it's just a product of the vast area covered. Many areas without straight-shot response routes. The coverage area is in the neighborhood of 200 square miles, and again, many areas accessible by travel on local roads for a considerable period of time. Splitting it up into four or five sectors would be fantastic if resources allowed.
-
In a word, no. And that's more a function of sheer geographical area then anything else.
-
Very stable.
-
Thanks, that makes sense.

Am I reading this correctly in that NFD Commanders and County Coordinators have an antagonistic relationship? When you say, "interpretations of updates from the scene", I envision them standing behind the police tape, "guessing" whats going on and giving updates accordingly.
-
I've never seen anyone do those.

Uhm, no. I don't even know where that story came from?! Gov. Pataki's E.O. was issued after the S.C. Highway Patrol incident of January, 1996, when a Trooper driving a slick-top car assaulted a woman who he (wrongly) believed was fleeing from him. He was quickly (and in my opinion correctly) fired soon thereafter.
-
First, I agree with you, the right reading of the E.O. makes anything possible. Second, the original E.O. did not apply to all law enforcement agencies, just those under the direction of the Governor. Local, city, county agencies were never prohibited. State agencies were the only ones who had to work around the E.O. For years, until recently, unmarked cars were not sent out for the sole purpose of handling everyday enforcement, rather, those cars that happened to be unmarked and out for their intended purpose would just find themselves having to take action where necessitated. Under recent rule changes, CITE (Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement) units are now deployed with the direct intention of enforcing the VTL.

Langer wasn't using an unmarked car. He was using his patrol car, while on duty. No real connection to unmarked cars. He spent about 6 years in Federal Prison.
