The Statute itself addresses this only applies in cases where no others require transport. As for your comments regarding who should pay the bill: Sometimes in emergency services you do the right thing, because it's the right thing to do. And why do you think the handler or the police chief would have any issues regarding providing consent to transport an injured work dog to an appropriate facility. Most of us in law enforcement know that many of these dogs are shot, stabbed and killed every year to avoid sending humans into dangerous situations. Around police departments, these K9's are invaluable and treated as such. If the situation every presents itself, just let them know in advance that you need to know who will be "paying the bill." I'm sure law enforcement will make other arrangements as to not cut into your budget. I've been so lucky to work both as a Paramedic and LEO in agencies that work so well together that these problems would never arise. I'm sorry to hear that's not the case everywhere.

It amazes me how topics that should generate no controversy, still manage to do so.

They might not be experts, but the details they posted pretty much mirror the ones that you offered, so, not sure where all your outrage emanates from.

I know this is a little off topic, but while I was driving home from the Dannemora Search Detail on Wednesday, I passed an engine that was traveling northbound on the Thruway near Albany. Clear as day, it was Miami-Dade Engine 3. Any idea what it would be doing that far away?

I wonder, does this vary by area? Years ago when I worked as a Medic at Scarsdale VAC, a few Conservative/Orthodox Jewish members (non-Hasidim), did drive and work on the Sabbath for calls, even driving back from the hospital.

Just heard units redispatched for a working structure fire at the scene.

http://www.startribune.com/politics/national/297927601.html Shot and killed only one week after completing field training by an armed neo-nazi who had just robbed a bank, and killed another person.

Yes, there already exists a formula that dictates distribution of fine revenue. With only a few exceptions, the fines belong to the City/Town/Village where the offense occurs, even if the tickets/summons were issued by a State Trooper/State ENCON/State Parks, etc, or County/Sheriffs Officer. Speeding fines are more complex and are divided between the municipality and the State. Surcharges are also divided by a formula.

Yes, I agree. SP Cortlandt patrols Putnam Valley & Garrison, SP Wappingers covers North Highlands, SP Stormville covers the Taconic region, SP Brewster covers Southeast, Brewster, Patterson, and Putnam Lake, SP East Fishkill covers the I-84 region throughout Putnam and SP Somers covers the Carmel area.

Exactly right. A "source" at this stage is just guessing, nothing more. Given the enthusiasm outlined in that article, this sound FAR from a done deal, let alone what the logistics are.
-
I don't read it that way. The article goes out of it's way to never directly link the merger with the Sheriffs Office. Even the Sheriff himself, who arguably would be that much more powerful, gives a very lukewarm quote. That being said, I personally think it should be the Sheriffs Office. The idea of two independent, county-wide police/patrol agencies is nonsensical.
-
So, you'd have a Putnam County Police Department and a Putnam County Sheriffs Office doing the same thing, at the same time, in the same place?
-
Just a correction to your post, NYSP does have a polygraph exam.

The Google street-view shows some very large apartment buildings adjacent to that address. Maybe some fear of exposure? EDIT: Actually, on closer look from the street-view, 742 might actually be the apartment building. The last "small" structure looks like 740, making 742 a 5-6 story apartment building. That would certainly explain the response.

The top picture is of 2F42, which was assigned to the Palisades. The second picture is 1K87, a slick-top, which handled the northern end of the Taconic. When they were in service, there were several dozen assigned around the state.
-
Not to evaluate, we had many in service, on patrol. The last Camaro's were phased out around 2008 or so.

Then why did you return? Are you seeking some kind of validation through your grammatically inferior posts? For someone that espouses freedom, you have the freedom to leave at any time. Why in the world would you spend so much time on a forum that you despise? It's beyond illogical. You must have something else to do with your time. Take up a new hobby. Why do you need anyone to delete your old posts? You are actively adding new posts to a forum you want nothing to do with.

Yet, here you are. Continually signing on the site and posting, and posting, and posting. You have the freedom to avoid coming on here, given your litany of complaints.

Are you sure that the dispatcher took the initiative in this case or did the IC specifically request Ossining?

The lights help, a lot, often. Many, many, many drivers appropriately reduce speed and move over. It's the exceptions that present the danger. I hope the impetus behind this is not cost. Many tow operators charges hundreds of dollars, just to hook it up and take it off the parkway, while a tire change is considerably less profitable. Anyone who thinks you can completely remove the dangers of working on a parkway are delusional. PD, FD, DOT, tow operators will always face some level of risk as long as they operate on open roadways.

I'm confused. There was only $4,000 in damages and that's the basis for replacing the truck? I think some detail is missing here, no?

http://pittsburghpa.gov/ems/rescue_division.htm Pittsburgh has a similar system.

Your right, quite a few Jersey agencies play that role, and in a few other States as well.
