I have seen a very minor car accident where the Driver had to be cut out of the car because they were to big to be removed any other way. The person was not able to get them selves out and there was no rome to rotate the patient on to a back board. Prior to extrication the car had minor damage. But remove a door or two and a B post and the car was toast. The owner understood and said do what you have to.

I would love everyones input on what you feel constitutes a rescue squad or team. What qualifications should a FF have to be a team member and what work is the squad expected to do. I have my own ideas but want to know what others have or would do. I do not know of any other formal rescue squads so if you know of any site to go see let me know. Thanks and lets have some fun

I guess I am talking about a rescue company. I also wanted to see what people had on their minds with regard to fire rescue. I envision a company of individuals that train together on rescue technics that can be deployed at any scene where life is at stake. FAST teams and any other operation where we are there to rescue. I want to try to set up a department team that can then train with other departments and hopefully develope specialties and share team members. I will let you know where it goes as I try to move forward.

Gina, Those are beautiful thoughts and they made a lot of sense. It would be wonderful if people could think beyond them selves and make this place a better world. As always my heart and prayers go out to you and your family and I am glad Jimmy is resting better. Don't be afraid to do the inner thinking but do remember to bounce those thoughts off the people around you and also use this board. I am sure you family wants to know what your thinking and they might just help you make things happen. I know the people out here love to here what is going on in and around your family. And this thought process is part of it. I have a feeling that more people can relate to this then what is really happening in your physical world. So keep thinking and sharing and may god contimue to show up in our lives.

Keep remembering his smile and keep praying to see it again. I am praying for you and Jimmy and your whole family. It is beautiful the love you see in Jimmy. Hold Tight to the Love.

The Meeker Family is praying for you and your family. We have and will continue to. May God keep finding ways to shine through even if it is just a smile from time to time on the bravest of the brave, On the face of Jimmyboy. He know no other life but one filled with the power of the love he recieves every moment from all thoughs around him. As you sit there and watch him, Know that he knows, know that he smiles because of your love. My prayers for you all. John Meeker Jr.

Motor vehicle lock out is not an emergency. If you call me and it is an emergency I will take the window and the emergency is over for me. as for the emegency inside the car, that can now be handled. With this in mond the dispatcher can save lots of time for the people on seen if they tell the caller " the fire department will be there as soon as possible to break the window, If you feel its necessary you can break it your self now" other wise wait for a tow truck or lock smith.

It does make more sence to get the attention the the person you are calling before you say who you are. This way they do not have to say "Unit Calling?" because that is the part they heard after you got their attention. It takes a little practice to remember to do it that way and everyone will have to want it done that way or you will catch flack for it.

I love olympus and have 2 digital cameras. There is nothing special about the card used. they can be picked up anywhere. My high end C8080 has 2 cards, 1 XD and 1CF so take your pick.

Oh well, I think the bathroom gage was by far the best, funny but not mean.

http://www.fire-glow.com/photos/yhfd1004%20(4).JPG I heard those at Dorktown picked up on most of the modification but was told they missed this one. Hope you can see it.

Yes, Dorktown posted banners at the different Somers Fire Houses, but to their dismay they found all four mounted on the inside of there bay doors when they came home from the party. To bad they were only up for about 10 minutes. Nice Try [-X

How do people feel about pressure washing hose (other then its a pain in the butt). Does it hurt the hose? does it get the dirt out or just drive it in and cause additional wear?
-
You are moving in only if the tank is not flaming but the piping or adjoining fixtures have failed and are burning. You move in to shut off the supply and contain the fire by eliminating the fuel. If there is no shut off don't bother

If you are willing to paint, first clean the dismond plate as mentioned above and the use a clear coat to seal the diamond plate. It is like painting only you are keeping the true look. When it chips or flakes off you can always re apply. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have been involved with one depaertment that went through a fairly major building improvement and I know that the design committee put in a lot of effort to pull the plans off. My only comment would be watch out for the individuals who want to make statements out of the different parts of the project. No one person should make design descisions with out membership approval. This building will stand for atleast 50 years and it is very tempting to pick that special architectual feature and sneak it in and make a statement for yourself. This was the biggest issue I saw with the last department I was with. Like I said it is a lot of work and I would not want to be the one doing it. Good luck.

Cool, They went for it. Its strange that in my own fire house I find out about it here first. Any links to look alike pictures or manufacturers web sites?

Hi all, My name is John and I am a FF/EMT in Somers and well as an officer. It is neat to be able to see what is going on around the county and I hope to gain a lot of information off of this site. Look forward to the posts
