Amen Andy lol! I wish i could have bought our 69' Young/GMC (Engine 162) when we got rid of it. And i definately wish i (or someone local) could buy the current Engine-119 (1984 Mack). The rigs of the past were the best, hands down!

That truck is definately sweet, even though its green! I love Macks, although not a big fan of Sutphen. We have a 1998 Sutphen/International and we hate it! We'd rather replace that next before our 1991 Pierce! I'm with Izzy.....bring back the oldies but goodies! Mack, Maxim, Hahn & Young! Our 1969 Young/GMC kicked a$$ and still does (although we sold it to Columbian Engine Co. of Peekskill).

Nah the problem with the Points rigs (Verplanck FD) is that they don't get out much at all, so seeing some sun is outta the question! Before anyone gets all huffy, that was just a dig to my brothers from the point, especially those O'Brien boys! Ya know i had to mess with ya Tommy boy! Oh yeah, and by the way, Rombouts Truck looks sweet! I kinda like their color scheme, especially because it has some tradition behind it! Best of luck to Rombout FD with the new Truck!

This whole topic of PD agencies using blue lights has been thrown around for quite some time now. To be honest, i'm glad that they are finally trying to pass it into legislation. As stated, i'm not sure how much impact blue lights will have on PD cars in regards to being more visable and helping to avoid accidents. I truly hope that they do, but who knows? Blue lights have been proven to be highly visable and anyone who has seem them will agree. So if PD's wanna put blue lights on their patrol vehicles, so be it. If its gonna help, even in the smallest bit, to avoid PD involved accidents, i'm all for it. I have many friends and family members who are PD m.o.s. and i'm all for keeping them as safe as possible! CPFD posted the new blue light law for NJ. All i can say is WOW! Personally, i do not believe its a good idea AT ALL! It just has disaster written all over it! I mean look around this county at all the wackers out there with 20 blue lights on their cars who drive like maniacs as it is! Could you imagine if this NJ law came into affect for NY? I mean, lets face it, we all let our adrenaline get the best of us from time to time (myself included), so its probably best that NY keep their current blue light law how it is now.

Skooter, as always, you are a sick mother and i love it bro lol! I think this is funny as hell, but not to practical. As Irishfire stated, you still need the paperwork (obviously), so the tat is kinda pointless, but funny at the least!

First, hats off to Jack for kicking a** all the time for CVAC! 2nd, thanks to 66Alpha1 for recognizing Jacks continuous dedication! Jack is one of those members that every corps/dept. wishes they could have more of. Hes an all around awesome guy and an excellent EMT (I). He pretty much makes all daytime/weekday calls for us and therefore its rare that we need to go m/a. Thanks and congrats to a job continuously well done! Now to mnfbhmc1... Nice of you to notice Jacks dedication and how much he puts into the VAC, however you're going a bit overboard in my opinion. I don't mean going overboard in regards to Jacks dedication, but getting on the younger members supposed lack there of. Are you a member of CVAC or another local agency? Do you know any of our members? Did you know that our current 1st Lt. is 27 or 28 years old and our 2nd Lt. is about 22 years old? Hows that for dedicated young members? Jack happens to be retired so he is around during the day, our younger members are either at school or work. Maybe it seems as though the younger members aren't as active because you don't hear them during the day. However, many of our younger members make up our overnight crews, answering calls at all house of the night. I'm in no way downplaying what Jack does for us, we owe alot to him. I know many young members that wish they could have the dedication that Jack has. So before you start on a tangen on how the younger members should step up to the plate, know your facts. Again, thanks and congrats to Jack (8833) for a hell of a job well done, again and again!

Good question 92....Hell, if theres only 55 signed up so far, i'd even consider taking the exam! In no way do i have residency, but with that low of a number of applicants, at least i may be able to get on the list. Good luck to anyone who did apply, sounds like this may be a good exam to take!

Good call Was!!! This crap is killing me, my eyes are constantly itchy! However, as much as we could use the rain, i can't help but hate, mostly in part because i have to work outside in it, oh well. Stay safe everyone and try and stay dry!

1st Due, i know in Buchanan, we have had the battery issue with the Scott backs as well. We have a policy that no matter what, the batteries in ALL packs get changed every 6 months. However, it seems that alot of them are needed to be replaced before then. Its ridiculous how many batteries we go through for these things and batteries are not that cheap. Scott packs are one of the most important pieces of equipment in the fire service, so we must eat the cost and continue to purchase the batteries and replace them. Other than the battery issue, we have not had any other major issue that i am aware of, with the Scott packs.

I attended the wake services for FF Appuzio last night and i must say that i was blown away at the number of people, especially Fire-EMS-PD members, that were in attendance. I also know that the family was very greatful for the turn-out as well. There were MOS from all over New Jersey, New York (including FDNY membes) and some from even further. Deputy Chief Billy Goldfeder of the Loveland-Symmes FD in Ohio, who is also a contributing editor of Firehouse magazine, among others, was also in attendance to pay his respects. It was a truly touching service for such a brave, young man. May Kevin rest in peace - my thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and brother firefighters.
