Mark, the truck is coming along nicely. I wouldnt mind that beast as my POV lol. Best of luck to Wassaic with this new piece when it arrives! By the way, that last pic is priceless! They're driving a Mini Cooper.....sorry, but enough said lol.
-
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the Trooper. Hope they throw the book at this jack-a**! I really dont know who/what these kids think they are driving the way they do. Not to get off topic; as many of you know, i work sanitation. A few weeks ago, as i was walking between the truck & the curb, a high powered car went over the double yellow line, around the g-truck and actually brushed the garbage bag that was in my hand! Needless to say, the kid was probably smart for not stopping since my adrenaline/anger was so high. Plus 3-1 odds arent too good! We're keeping our eyes out for the car, as is BPD! Stay safe out there everyone!

Brian, nice shot as always man! I really like the night shot with the ground lights on the rig illuminated. Oh, and real nice rig by the way lol. Best of luck to NFD with it.

Ladder44.....lol, thanks man, that definately answers my question (how far anyway). Hour and a half isnt bad at all. Is this a good muster, alot of vendors?
-
Call me naive, but in my 10+ years in the fire service, i have yet to attend a muster. In everyones opinion, are they worth it? Is the Milford one far from the Buchanan area? If its a nice day, may be something to do to get out of the house.

x129....i like how you think bro lol. Im thinking that mobile office could make a great mask confidence/survival trailer.
-
No problem CRP...it was too early in the am anyway, better off staying in bed lol. Hope youre feeling better.
-
WOW! Glad to hear the brothers are ok, that could have been ALOT worse. Seth, good questions. I to would be interested in learning the causes of these failures. I mean, for the metal to fail/bend like that is almost unthinkable.
-
CRP....I know that J.T. Camp (ONLOCATION) was there. However, i do not know if he bothered to take any pics, as there wasnt much to see. All i know is that i was on a ladder when he got there. I had removed my helmet briefly and quickly threw it back on thinking "man, i can just imagine the Monday-morning quarterbacking that will go on on EMTBravo" lol. But im sure if J.T. got anything (fireground/apparatus) he will share it when he gets the chance.

Great shots as always Bill, thanks for sharing! Even though "there wasnt much to see," its great to look at candid people and apparatus shots, shows the different aspects of the fire service. I love the ladder placement as well. It always seems (from pics anyway) that PFD is very aggressive in their laddering at jobs.

RIP FF Frizzell. My condolences to his family and the brothers & sisters of the East Charleston FD. efdcapt...well stated. I do not have experience with tankers, but it seems that there is room for improvement (on all ends).

Nice work PO Serlin & of course Gracie! I dispatched for the WCDPS for a short time and had the honor of dealing with PO Serlin (who is an excellent officer and asset to the WCDPS). I loved hearing Mitch try and transmit something over the radio and Gracie having to "chime" in lol. They're a great team and as i said, an absolute asset to Westchester County! Way to go!

As with other pressing issues, this one has been beaten to death. Im not saying its a bad thing though, i think it is good that its being brought to light. Unfortunately, i do not see the issue changing anytime soon. Something needs to be done, bottom line. I do not believe that there is a perfect, definative answer/solution accross the board. I do like how Putnam County works with EMS dispatch, but that is far from perfect. If the primary agency cant get out, bang out the next closest 2 or 3 agencies and whoever gets a crew, takes the job. Again, this is FAR from perfect. This should not have to occur, no excuses. Consolidation/regionalization may be a start. For my area, a start could be consolidating Cortlandt, Peekskill & Verplanck EMS. Start by cross-traing these agencies and allowing ALL members to cover calls in any of the districts. If you hear Peekskill needs an EMT, but youre a CVAC or Verplanck EMT, you could respond (same with drivers). Instead of Peekskill toning out 3 or so times then going to CVAC or Verplanck, it would cut down some time. Next step could be a partial paid system, with Peekskill/Cortlandt sharing the cost. Have 1 (maybe 2) paid buses to cover the entire area and have the volunteers pick up additional calls. These are just a few ideas i think could help a bit, but certainly not be the end-all solution. Something needs to be done and its owed to our individual communities to provide a reliable and professional EMS system that responds in a timely manner. John Munson (Remember 585) touched on the issues facing EMS in our County in the "Consolidation" topic thread (that has since been closed). He brought up some great points and this is a great place to bring it back up.

Wow, what a horrific tragedy! I'm in Vermont at my in-laws and just read this. I was surrounded by my fiancee's nieces, nephews & cousins & my heart dropped when I read this. I have a soft spot in my heart for children in distress. Its terrible when any life is lost, much less a childs. My thoughts & prayers are with the families who were affected by this incident. May the deceased rest in peace. My heart goes out to all the MOS involved as well. To the dispatchers & first responding PD, EMS & FD units; god bless you for your professionalism. To the ER staff, the ME's office & the LEO's left to investigate, my heart goes out to you as well. You were all left with a very difficult job. But to everyone who was involed in this incident...please, please, please talk to someone! I know this first-hand, its not worth it to hold it in. Talk to a colleague, husband, wife, friend, whoever you feel comfortable with.
